Less shame and hurt pride because they weren't suckered in; they had no choice as they were born in or "recruited" by their parents at very young ages. Not that being suckered in is anything to be ashamed of this as is a very insidious organization.
Overcoming what should be their parents' shame is probably easier than overcoming their own (comparing born-into-it vs. joined for whatever reason on their own).
