Today St. Louis had our first arrest. We're not releasing much at this time (the video will follow eventually), just because we want to wait and play our cards close to the chest until the anon is released, but here's a summary.

Our protestors were told by a particular officer that they couldn't cross onto the sidewalk in front of the org. Upon hearing this, two anons went over to discuss the situation with the officer. The entire conversation was peaceful, but it resulted in the arrest of one of our anons who basically took the fall to uphold his rights.

Here's some pics of the event, and like I said, full video will follow eventually. Right now we're working on talking to the department and the major and hopefully will get some positive results.

Sup guize, ACEdotcom here. thank you all for your support and criticisms, i will take all of your comments to heart in the future. I have been out of the pokey since about 7am and am currently planning my next move (it basically hinges on me getting the rest of my thing back, more about that below.

Also, i have always stood by anonymous, but never considered myself anonymous and have never tried to hide my identity, but i do appreciate the privacy, but its not necessary. At one point they were calling us "unanimous" or "unanonymous" but generally every just calls me Alex. I am more of a lurker on WWP, but i have been very active on the COSSTL boards and been protesting with anonymous from the start.

Some questions here...

Was this in St. Louis proper, or in some nearby city?
Is this guy a real cop? Seems to be a real cop car. If so, is he a cop in the city where he was arresting you?
How do you know that he was in the pay of the Scilons? Other than standing on their doorstep looking mean, I mean.

I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell of getting a conviction for "impeding traffic." All you have to do is show the video which shows that there was no traffic, and it will be laughed out of court. If you'd actually been trying to stand in front of Scilons trying to get in, that would be one thing, but really, this is crazy.

The city is the City of University City (that is what they call themselves)
i dont know who pays the cops, and i dont care. my guess is that if they are in uniform, they are paid by the city though.

also, i was neither impeding foot OR vehicle traffic anymore then the other anons. i am confident that the charges will be dropped in court or sooner.

While i was there i talked to man that had spent one year in a MO state prison. While he was in prison, he had attended a Scientology outreach program, something i didnt even know they had (and if it has noble intentions, i can respect). but most of the spirituality BS went right over his head. but it was great, he asked alot of questions about Scientology and the recent protests. so yeah...i wouldnt say recruit...but definitely inform.

Yeah, sounds like a classic example of cop feeling like his authority wasn't being respected and over reacting. I don't see how any of this could hold up. I doubt they decide to go ahead and file charges. Based on your side of the story sounds like the cop was out of line. Hopefully everything works out well.

This is interesting, because though "They weren't arrested for doing the same thing as I was!" isn't a defense, the fact that he was totally ok with you doing "the same thing" but "on the other side of the same street" shows that the "impeding [vehicle] traffic" is spurious and not true.

If it's "impeding foot traffic" into the Open House, then that's ridiculous, too, because you didn't actually do that. No one was impeded from walking by you or hindered from going into the building.

If he was concerned that you might impede sidewalk traffic, then I don't think that's something that is arrestable.

I was reading conspiracies in the other thread and it makes me giggle.

For those that don't know the STL area, University City was/is a planned community. The area where the org is located is known as "The Loop". They don't mind a full on gathering of any sorta of humanoid freakshow as long as it adds to the local revenue... or the liberal atmosphere. PETA booth? No prob. Gay Rights activities... bring it on. Drum circles, street musicians, random acts of art are all welcome. Not much in that area warrants a staged protest.

The only true non-corralled demonstrations I've ever seen in that area have all started down by Washington University campus. Never in The Loop.

So the pictures prove that U-City pigs don't know how to handle basic demonstrations of Constitutional rights (Strangly the pictures also make me thirsty for milk ;) ) but I am willing to bet that if your group would contact the U-City board that you would be able to talk them into setting up shop right outside the org. Give them the heads-up and try to work with them.


As for the conspiracies on padding the local cops... I'd like to say fooey...

BUT


IF that is happening then it's not happening at a local level. The access I had to the orgs daily financial records would have alerted a fellow conspiracy theorist such as myself.

I can't speak for the gobs of $$ that go to upper management and what they do with it all. But I will go on the record to say that no non-sea org, STL local, staff member knows anything about bribing local pigs. AND as far as I know, from recall, U-City didn't really care for Scientology being there. Who knows... maybe too much more noise will get them evicted from the planned neighborhood? :D


PS... there used to be a Suzette on staff in STL... she was hot too!
