A previous (now domed) thread touched on some good issues involving the filing of complaints against LOE. There were some good points but it devolved into this...



It's important to understand the ramifications of filing complaints. LOE are a tight-knit group. That's why they call it the Fraternal Order of Police. They stick together and weak complaints might cause blowback for everyone else. If you want to file a complaint it might be a good idea to get hive feedback. I'm not saying that they don't do wrong, bad cops gets what they deserve in prison, but make sure your case is strong before proceeding. Of course, you're an individual and can do whatever you want.

I filed an Internal Affairs complaint against Officer Turner yesterday through a well-known civil rights attorney who has successfully sued LAPD officers in the past for police misconduct. Eric Garcetti has also seen my video and has commented on it.

The complaint was faxed from her office and a phone call to the IE to let them know it was coming. I mailed a compilation DVD of my clash with Turner & his past conduct toward other protesters in the past. Those that made the videos showing the incidences gave me their OK to use their videos.

I do not require the OK of the "hive mind" here to file a complaint. This isn't Scientology. Because it it now a legal case, I will not comment on it further.

Compilation? Excellent! Good move. I remember seeing him being a jerk on past videos, but really; accusing you of "spitting" on him crosses the line into abusive behavior and misusing his authority.
