Re: Celebrity Centre LA to hold Autism fundraiser
It would be really bad if like a dozen people emailed the craigslist posting and responded with photos of full-figured models so they would have a dozen or more booked for the event night, when in reality none of the booked models even exist IRL.
I still find it odd trying to use scilon star power to shove through a fake autism charity. I'm convinced this is about raising a bunch of charity money and then using it for administrative costs, like developing training materials to educate about autism (and the scilon cure) |

SafeMinds pre-dates Jett's death.
The way out of the cognitive dissonance is in the re-branding of autism as an immune disease rather than a psychiatric disorder. The Travoltas appeared at a fund raiser for "Thoughtful House" a few years ago. If you don't know anything about Dr. Andrew Wakefield, you should. |

Re: Celebrity Centre LA to hold Autism fundraiser
I really want to send this out to others who follow things like this...but each site I have found associated with this event looks so crappy...it looks like a joke.
Is there a good site with all the info? The myspace sites look dumb. I went here, but again, it looks fake...like Emily made it herself. I am sending what links I can. Most google mentions of "love for autism association" were posts on the comments sections of a few Myspace accounts. This just seems so weird. A real scam you would think would make a decent looking site. |

Re: Celebrity Centre LA to hold Autism fundraiser
I just got off the phone with someone from the L.A. office of Autism Speaks.
They've never heard of Love For Autism Association or of Carrie Lopez. When I said there seemed to be no website and it looked like they were spamming myspace pages, it was an "ahhh ha" moment. The lady at Autism Speaks suggested if anyone wants to donate or become involved in fund raising for autism in the L.A. area, they should get a hold of the L.A. offices of Autism Speaks. Here's link to LAPD's "Know Your Charity": - official website of THE LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT "CHARITY CRITERIA Every city is governed by its own set of ordinances, the Los Angeles City Municipal Code (LACMC) Number 44.00 sets forth the criteria needed to solicit within the City limits. The conditions are: * An application must be filed with the State of California, which includes the organization’s bylaws and a listing of its Board of Directors. * Regardless of where the organization is based (even out of state charities) an application must be filed with the City of Los Angeles if the charity plans to solicit within the City. * The application must state the intent of the charity and where the funds raised will be dispensed. * A background check is conducted to gather information on the organization. * A permit is then given to the organization to proceed with any solicitation method they chose. * After the solicitation is completed the organization must file a report of results of activity with the City of Los Angeles. * Follow-up investigations are completed on any of the above mentioned items as needed." I ran a check on Love for Autism on the California Attorney General's site and found nothing. (Link for that site is on the LAPD website.) I also googled the FIRST annual fashion event and got nothing. How should we harpoon this since it doesn't seem on the up-and-up? . titim gan éirí ort. . TA /salute . "Seriously babe, you're trying way too hard- you're a joke but you just don't realize it. In fact, I didn't think this was possible, but you're even worse than xenubarb." ~Herro
