Bonaire doesn't have a huge population maybe 14,000. Diving is there main tourist attraction. It's a tropical island.. You kill the reefs and ecosystem OR even fuck with it considerably and no more tourists.

Also is it still controlled by the Dutch or has it become it's own nation? Still part of the Duth Antilles yes????

I can't remember the precise details without rummaging around but if memory serves I think there was some relatively recent political changes in the Dutch Antilles but I think Bonaire chose to stay under more direct control of the Netherlands (someone will possibly correct me on that). I posted this on Clambake and Dutch member Peter Schilte has sent a minor poon to Netherlands authorities (Department of Environment). This seems to be normal for them.. to have someone complain about their actions, but make no response until the media questions them on it. Then, claim to "work with" those who have a problem with it, or cease all offending activities. For a while, they appear to back off from what they've been doing that has caused others to speak out, then when they think attention towards their activities have died down, they go right back to doing it as if nothing has happened before.
