I'd like to do more about those Scientology ads that are starting to appear on TV. I don't care how damaged or on the ropes Scn is, those ads might help them attract new members.

I don't care if they just get a few new members. I don't want them to fuck up even one more unsuspecting person. They're done wrecking lives, AFAIAC.

If there's one thing I learned from the EPIC Harpoons Victorious! French Online poll re Scientology thread, it's that we need to counter every move Co$ makes, every way we can.

"Take it all, give them nothing" to quote I'm not a scientologist but, one of the posters in that thread. From now on they get NO WINS.

So my proposal is that whenever one of us sees an ad, s/he posts:

Station Ad appeared on
Show Ad appeared during
Time of Day
Brief Description of Ad
Contact Phone Number of Station or Cable System

This would just take a couple minutes, and anyone who sees the thread can call the station and complain, if they feel like it. In my experience, stations do take these calls seriously.

I'm also totally up for getting some of our videos on TV, but I don't know anything about how to do that.

Co$ is being sued all over the world, denounced in major city dailies, engaging in human trafficking and slave labor on my dime (I'm an American taxpayer) and they're going to run glossy ads on the Glof Channel?

I have no problem with Scientology hemorrhaging money like they are with those ads. On the contrary, it makes me tingly in my happy place! Advertising without a return on investment amounts to little more than throwing money at a problem. The problem, as Scientology sees it, is the public is being educated and inoculated to the horrible truth about sci, their members are blowing and their revenue streams are drying up. So there's very little chance they'll ever get even 10% of the money back that they're dumped in to those incredibly expensive ads from just a few clueless cases of fresh meat they might suck in.

The thing I find most satisfying is the ads lead people to the internet. When they go to the scientology website they can look at 100 videos that don't have the answer to a single question a person might have but they are still on the internet and likely to type scientology in their search engine and THAT is where all the work we have done for the last 18 months shows up the most.

If Scientology is telling people to go to the internet, good that is where I would most like them to look for answers about Scientology.

Don't worry so much about getting their ads off the air until we're able to convince most people that they're a dangerous investment, such as cigarettes (banned from advertising on television & billboards in the United States).

There's another scam, for "art school", "instant diploma" sort of thing, that's been advertising on television since the 60s or something (although I never see it anymore), and I'm surprised even THAT has been operating for so long.

This is kind of a double edged sword though. In a way it's good they are spending their money, but when they do this and the stats continue to fall, they take it out on Staffers and Sea Orgers and only press the publics for more dough.

So..... I think it's best if they don't do a ful blown advertising fiasco, not only for the simple fact that of course we dont want people going into a COS org, from seeing the add, but it's also better that COS doesn't spend the money and then have it fail and have their members getting reamed because it didn't work.

These ads are not costing them millions of dollars. Most of the production cost can be avoided by using their slave labor at Gold. And you don't only have to go thru the cable company to get good prices. Cable channels Such as CNN and others are not expensive to advertise on.

I agree that even one more person getting fooled into coming into an org is bad but I don't think that can be helped and the faster they hemorrhage money and drive away members the less that'll happen in the long run!

No I think the point is that the scns are doing our work for us with these commercials.

They draw more attn. to themselves means, more people will ask their friends what scientology is about and more people will be informed and look for scientology on the internet. And more people will find out that it is silly cult, with a shady history. And Scientology becomes an even bigger joke.

People don't join a "religion" because they saw an ad on TV.

On one had "there's a sucker born every minute." So I don't doubt that the advertisements are going to bring in some suckers. Just look at all the snuggy's that have been sold.

And it's not like they need to get a ton of people in. They end up sucking idiots dry of hundreds of thousands of dollars over their lifetime.

On the flip side, their advertising barrage is pissing people (non-anons) off and helping to create more public awareness than we could afford otherwise & that is reaching people we probably couldn't have hit before.

There is no perfect solution.

On the whole, I think we are better off with the scilons blowing their cash & pissing people off.

But, on gripping hand, if we can happen to piss of the scilons by getting their ads pulled from stations, then by all means, do it for the lulz.
