Ugly Betty has begun a mind control/cult theme with the episode "Plus None". You can view it at abc.com online.

Disconnection theme is present, expect it to get more in depth as the story line goes a long. Daniel has WINS...and there is a handler taking orders to get him to meetings and surely in the next week or so Daniel will be hit up for money...this is clearly a subtle smack down to the cult of Scientology.

Now, how far down into the cult will Daniel get drawn?

I like the show...and as soon as I got the "drift" on the cult story line..I was cheering! It's subtle, but very clear...the clams are after Daniel's money~! Daniel is searching for answers after the death of his wife...and is targeted at a grief group meeting by a woman....who this week showed him a brochure and took him to a "meeting" where he heard a lecture about 'truth' and experienced WINS when he used the technique..also, hired the woman to be his personal assistant...and it's CREEPY how fast she gains control of him. She didn't use the words SUPPRESSIVE person, however she did say "someone is holding you back" and every other key word. She's already gotten him to be at a distance from his mother and refuse to make up...and is separating him from his support and friends one at a time.

CULT ON PRIME TIME..who knew?

If I didn't watch it, how would Anonymous know about the CLAMS being slammed? It's a tough job, but someone has to do it. The show has a huge following and now everyone of them is going to learn, over the course of a few episodes, how to spot a mind control cult, and how they operate so slickly to gain control over people when they are at a low point in their life.

SO, even if ANON hates Ugly Betty, the show is getting the word out!

Popular show. lots of viewers. It's big with Latins (it's a US version of a Spanish language show)who are targeted by CoS.

They already did a disconnection thing, the handler tells Daniel that he's got people who are holding back his progress...so he's basically disconnecting from betty, and his mother...(albeit not complete) and at the end of the show the handler takes a phone call in private in which she is being admonished for missing a meeting with Daniel and promises to get him to the next one. It's cleverly done but for people who know the clam lingo and procedures and practices, it's Scientology...bound to get more interesting for SURE!

I don't know how many people will "get it" but I sure as hell did...when that chick whipped out a brochure and got Daniel to go to the meeting...I thought OMG they are So going to slam Scientology..and they did :D and I expect it to get even better as Daniel gets sucked further into the cult...any money on who saves him? Or how much money he gives them before he's saved?

It has to be Betty that saves him, but the cult handler is going to put up a big fight...the handler targeted Daniel...at the grief counseling group...she probably only went to those to seek out rich potential dupes for her cult.

Make fun of Betty...but people watch this show...LOTS of people....the more we talk about it (for instance each show has a message forum on ABC.COM (HINT) and if certain segments of society pooned that board with ZOMG they're pooning scientology, I bet people would get curious and research to see the correlations..and that will educate a whole other segment of society!

I'm just saying, opportunity knocks, take it!

Scientology is not mentioned in the show but it is clear that the grievance therapy group, "The Community of the Phoenix," is a cult and using a woman to lure Daniel Meade into the group.

Sounds alot like Scientology.

well yeah, they didn't call it scientology...but that's what it is...the disconnection thing, the WINS, the hooked on the feeling, the handler for a rich celebrity who is hurting, and I am sure on the next show..THE MONEY..
