Since this seems to be just a place to showcase their propaganda, I doubt they are going to rent the third floor and might not even rent the second. If they rent just the first floor, it will cost them $2,400 per day to be there and $3,000 per day if they rent both floors. We should try to keep an accurate headcount of everyone that enters to measure what Scilontology is paying per person. Actual numbers would be great to counter their inevitable spurious success story spin of the event.

Also, we still know NOTHING about the logistics of their Scilontology protest! If they are going to mobilize 2,000 or even 500 Scilontologists, this is NOT where any of it will be happening. This venue is much too small and meant for the public. We need to find out if they are planning to buy out the street or sidewalks to do a march and where their nearby gathering point will be. I'm not sure if San Francisco would let them buy out the street during the conference (we need to check!) but a street would be an ideal place to gather their ranks before doing a march. They may be planning instead to just scatter themselves around Moscone Center with no herding going on though, if I had to guess, I'd say they'd put a little more organization into such a significant gathering and try to do something collectively.

I'll try to make some phone calls tomorrow and Monday to do some digging and post what I discover here.

I'm concerned about even the appearance of "blocking" anything: the Scns could use that as fuel to say things like "Anon doesn't support free speech." The fact is, the Scns can have this silly and inflammatory Industry of Death exhibit--and FAIL COMPLETELY because their premises are made of suck.

I'd personally vote for being there at 11 AM and staying until they close. I don't get it, but the Scns seem to be pretty bad at waking up early. (Entheta night terrors?)

The venue requires "setup" for an event to begin no earlier than 8am so many scilons will be waking up early that morning to help get the building ready before they open at noon. It's possible that they will have rented the previous day for a full day to setup but I doubt that will be the case.

If any anons are really dedicated, they can get there at 8am and enturbulate the scilons at the rear entrance as they load stuff. It'd be funny to play the juicy parts of the Assists lecture (Incident II, etc) loudly in a loop while they load and warn them about LRH's own pneumonia threats. At best it may slow them down since more people would be inclined to stay inside and people would have to put a finger in their ear. If anyone wants to do this (I might) be sure to notify the police before you do so and bring a camcorder! Here is a pic of the rear entrance area:



It might be a pretty nice way to start a morning: grab a cup of coffee to-go and casually enturbulate in the back. Speak up if you want to do this.

Everyone else should plan for the main raid at 11am. I think we would all agree that's the ideal time to start gathering out front.

My guess is the scilons may protest in front of moscone center and pass out fliers in the surrounding areas in order to direct people to their exhibit. If there are plenty of anons, we can be spread around also.

Thats how the plan is. Once the main force of Anons arrive, we'll split between counter-flyering in front of Moscone and have another group to protest in front of the exhibit itself. Knowing the amount of folks we're ringing in, this won't be a problem >:D

One problem though, the small contingent from Stanford won't show up, according to the organizer who started it. Sucks, I was hoping for some Ivy League action.

I just got off the phone with the San Francisco Police Department and let them know about our peaceful protest outside the venue and around Moscone Center. When I asked about whether the CoS has rented any sidewalks or streets that day, they told me to call back in the morning so I could speak with the permit officer.

The city permit office's phone number is (415) 553-1373. When I called earlier today I was forwarded to an officer who was AFK and got his voicemail. When he calls me back I'll post the details here. I'm going to dig about the CoS's permits around but not limited to the 839 Howard St venue. It's possible they'll be doing something near their mission, on Market, the Embarcadero (aren't there commericial tents down there Saturday?) or somewhere else.

I called back and got more information about San Francisco's permit system.

Despite the APA event going on in the 700 block, the CoS could still buy out the streets and sidewalks for the 800 block (where the venue is). I've been trying to reach the Southern Station's permit officer Gary Buckner but he usually leaves around 3pm. I'll call earlier tomorrow.

If they did buy a permit, I'll have them fax the detailed permit report on file to me and make xerox copies so we can have them at the raid. It will say in detail what exactly the city does and does not allow the CoS to do.

This CCHR event could be much simpler than this with only the venue and a few dozen scilons but we might as well leave no stone unturned and make sure we're protesting within the laws.

Confirmed: They're renting only the first floor ($2,400/day) for only May 16th through the 21st. They won't be buying the 15th to do a full day of setup, meaning they will be loading out back starting at 8 am until noon.

I won't get there till probably a bit after noon or 1pm on the 16th. I was assuming I would go straight to the Moscone Center. Does that sound like a good plan for those of us who cannot get there early?

How far is it from the CCHR building to the Moscone Center? Walking distance or public transportation distance?
