[Mappin Jewellery store on Regent Street (London) - John & Irina Mappin]s on the right hand side as you go up Regent Street, heading for Oxford Circus.

Is anyone able to get a photo of the store using Google Street View? It's probably on there, somewhere.

Is this England's richest scifag?

Apparently, John Mappin is very very upper level. One guy wanted to give me docs, alleging this fag makes big commission from sales of Scientology courses. (i.e. he's at the top of the pyramid)

(Not sure why we would need it though, he's an heir to the Mappin & Webb Jewellery empire). This offer of "evidence" was conditional - I declined. It could be bullshit - I never saw any evidence.

tl;dr lookout for this face, Londoners.

oh, btw, he's trying to launch some sort of music career. It would be cruel for people to contact him, pretending to be interested in his musical talents, just so they could get info. I hope no-one does that.

Ah, I thought I recognised the name. Yes, he joint-owns the Camelot hotel in cornwall (which I believe is staffed by foreign Sci's) and is a convicted fraudster. He is far from one of 'the most ethical people on the planet'. He definitely deserves a lot of anon attention.

It was talked about last year about getting someone into the hotel with a hidden camera system, but the costs/logistics ruled it out - plus the fact that most of the plymouth crew at the time were already face-fagged.

Ted Stourton is the other co-owner of the hotel. I just googled this - The second coming of Peter Jay | Mail Online - if you scroll down, it appears Nicholas Cage stayed at the hotel and experienced the 'Light Box'.... he's photographed next to Ted.

The lightbox is a box with a lightbulb in it by the way.... I have no idea why it is so mystical... lol

The photos claiming to be friends of Camelot virtually none of which were taken in the hotel were tacky.

During raid and man pulled up in a Merc. to ask what we were protesting about- I answered that we were protesting the abuses of the cult of Scientology, he then (in typical $cilon manner) said we didn't know what we're talking about and he'd been a $cielon for x number of years- so i told him I'd read OT1- OT8 and that L Ron wasn't coming back then asked him how much money he'd given the "church". Suprisingly he told me- about £100, 000 "which is nothing to me as I'm worth £50 million" then drove his ego-laden arse off!

He sounds OK.

The latest reviews of the hotel are lulzworthy... and well worth the read. They talk of musty rooms, terrible paintings, 'pod' bathrooms that smell of wee, and many go into detail about the egotistical nature of the owners.... however, this one stood out:

Well, the Light Box is a tour of the dank basement of the hotel where Ted does some of his work. He is a very good guitarist as well. We were serenaded, allowed to doodle on a partially finished painting, and then came the Light Box! You are taken into a bare room with a contraption (best description is it looks like an old front projection big screen TV). He turns off the lights and starts softly reciting obscure poetry/chants while placing one after another of his works on the Light Box while varying the light shining on the paintings. Immediately after he finishes, the hook comes out and the sales pitch starts. That also ruined an otherwise tolerable episode.

I will not go back and I recommend that anyone who does go there, don't tell them ANYTHING about your job unless you are a fellow Scientologist and are approved!

I just finished all of the reviews on the site listed earlier, and they fall into 2 categories:

1) False marketed ones
2) Honest ones.

The honest ones are nearly all very negative. We phoned up the hotel last night with one US anon pretending enquiring about room rates and prices. There were two types of rooms - £39 and £69 per person per night. It sounds as though the cheaper rooms are the ones with the pod toilets, painted-shut windows with newspaper filling the gaps and the whole room smelling of grandmother. The person who answered the phone was definitely foreign, and upon probing, sounded very much to be a believer of LRH tech. I've heard reports from some ex-sci's that the hotel is used a lot to try and recruit tourists, and that most (if not all) of the staff are Scientologists. There are lots of Scientology books and CD's at the hotel for the guests to read.

We asked about the 'Light Box', and were just told "It is a surprise for our guests". No other information was forthcoming, despite prodding.

The owners had decided that to spruce up the place by hanging lots of art work by one of the owners. Now if it was good art then I wouldn’t have minded but it wasn’t. Basically most of it my nieces could have painted. Also there was abundance of photos around the place of the two owners – John Mappin (heir to the Mappin & Webb jewellery empire) and Ted Stourton (the artist). Also, lots of poems and newspaper articles about the owners were all over the lounge areas. One evening I did some research about the place and found out that the owners are members of the Scientology. No wonder there was photos of Tom Cruise and John Travolta about the place. Maybe also explains why the place has been in a refurbishment program since 2001 without much success – all their money must go to the Scientology. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone but I will say that the staff were really nice and helpful and if the rooms were a bit cheaper instead of £130 a night for a fairly decent room then I wouldn’t be complaining so much.
