Based on conversations with more Newly-Blown Scientologists:

1. Protests are highly effective. Even one person/one sign raids get noticed by current Scientologists. I have heard this repeatedly now from many newly-blown members to whom I talk: The presence of protesters sends up a major red flag. Scientologists do read the signs and listen to what is being said. Protests remain highly effective. I talked to someone who was in over thirty years and he identified protesters last year as one of the major factors in the process of him leaving CoS.

2. Any mention of Xenu on a sign still shocks OT's. OT's still believe the OT levels are a secret. Xenu is not seen as an alien by OT's. He is simply seen as a person from another planet. LRH anthropomorphized aliens/ET's so that they became humans in different bodies. OT's see aliens in the human way as presented on Star Trek or Star Wars. When Xenu is escalated to alien/ET, it causes a perceptual shift. This is not trivial for OT's. The public knowing about Xenu deeply disturbs OT's and Sea Org who are OT.

3. CoS still lies to its members and withholds crucial facts. Example: The hardcore members still do not know that L. Ron Hubbard died following two strokes with the psych drug Vistaril in his body. They still have not seen this picture of LRH as an old man:

4. It is still true: Scientologists are not allowed to read any critical websites. It is still a serious ethics offense. However, once a hardcore Scientologists gets on the internet, they will spend weeks and months reading everything they can.

5. It is still true: Scientologists do not know the basic facts of their own church. They believe the PR and expansion stats. They tend not interact with non-Scientologists or to minimize interactions.

6. Scientologists live in a highly censored false reality system where the sense of group and loyalty is extraordinarily strong. The distortion of reality in Scientology is incredibly hard for a non-believer to fathom.

7. The Tech is a tautological system that keeps Scientologists locked into a circular argument: "I am still not fixed because I need (fill in the name of the course, level, or Congress)." Hardcore Scientologists want to get better and are not allowed to believe that the Tech does not work. Thus, they are perpetually at fault. They are stuck in a "this lifetime" belief in which it becomes easy to write off "this lifetime" and give it to CoS. For a Scientologist, Heaven is reincarnating into that fabled wealthy Scientology family next lifetime.

8. CoS sells its courses, levels, and other products just like a fake doctor sells miracle pills to cure everything. Scientologists believe that if they can hang on until they get the "exact" thing that cracks their case they will finally be okay. If not this lifetime, then next lifetime.

9. Tory has always had it right: It is a Truman Show existence in CoS. Outside reality breaks it apart. If you have never watched The Truman Show movie with Jim Kerry, watch it.

10. Outside reality is like a hammer on glass for a Scientologist. Once the Truman Show breaks, it cannot be put back together. The sky itself is not real in Scientology:

This is what I hate most about the cult. They encourage people to throw away their lives in slavish conditions, thinking they are at least doing it for the greater good when in fact they are lining the pockets of two very slimy con-men.

Yes as a 16 year old former protester against the Vietnam War (yes I know it definitely ages me) I know protesting works & protesting worked very well during the Civil Rights Movement. All decades before the Internet! So when I first came here & read some posts that what you were doing wasn't working it deeply saddened me! Because its because of Anon's peaceful protesting that I decided to come on board! And I'm not an Ex-Scientologist, nor do I have family or friends involved in this very life damaging, sinister, money power cult!
