Points relevant to Anon:

1) It is important to increase the social cost of censorship, not unlike what happened when the Co$ censored a certain video.

2) Governments (and certain criminal cults, IMHO) are learning the cost of censoring sites ppl go to for cute cats, and now prefer to lean on web 2.0 services like google, flickr, and youtube to get them to remove content they deem offensive.

3)Speaking for victims is fail. When possible, facilitate and amplify the victims' voices rather than channeling second and third hand info. There are a christ load of tools on the net to do this.

Also lots of specific examples of web apps and services that have been successfully used by activists to expose tyranny, hypocrisy, wasteful gov'mt spending, false imprisonment, and info on disasters and atrocities. Mostly third world, and Chinese examples.

Oh yeah, and there's a bit in there on images and img boards as a way to circumvent censorship I thought was nifty.

Worth watching.

I thought I'd throw this up here after watching the video, concerning Ron. We might start looking at a bigger picture. Sure, we get butt-hurt when a video or channel keeps going down on YouTube, but WHY is he so persistent at it?

I'm guessing it has something to do with this: His business world. He's trying to keep it separate from his wacky looking scientology world. Like George in Seinfeld, he's trying to prevent the two worlds from colliding on the internet.

My suggestion is, we help these two worlds get together, through blogs. In the entries you tie in his scientology ways (lawnsdale assault, shock absorber brains) with the software he's trying to shill.

Sure, it's not fast-paced like YouTube, but you'd be setting up an info-bomb on the internet for anybody that might be interested in his software. Most people I know google any unknown software before buying.

Just a few suggestions. Use http://blogger.com (google owns it, so it automatically gets indexed), serve incriminating photos from another server (like bayimg.com) and finally, embed videos from RuTube.

...or not.

Yes, that was worth an hour of my time.

Obviously, we're not in quite the same situation since Scientology, despite its best efforts, is NOT the government. One point he made that I found worth pondering was the notion that speaking on behalf of people isn't nearly as effective as providing platforms that allow those people to speak for themselves. (Though I guess part of the problem with some ex-Scieno sites is when they're still stuck speaking that crazy moon language and Jane Average Citizen has no idea what they're talking about.)

And it's good to know that Twitter, for once, managed to justify its existence.
