This court case is sheer fucking win for Ausfags, simply because (and IANAL, mind) it now sets a legal precedent establishing ISPs as common carriers, with no responsibility for the content users access.

This means that all those sekkrit backroom deals which put ISPs over a barrel last year? They're now about as relevant and legally enforcable as freeloader debts for Ausfags.

The other aspect that this case highlights is the whole “guilty until proven innocent” canard. Ultimately ISPs are not going to devote time and resources proving the innocence of their customers (not to mention that it may be an impossible task even for genuinely innocent customers). This attempt to change the burden of proof has been a tactic used by the entertainment industry few faggots in the entertainment industry fearful of losing their market dominance because they cannot improvise within a changing market.
