I love the optimism on this board but as I have always said, Holmes is not going anywhere nor does she want to go. I don't know how anyone can look at Holmes and believe she is desperate to leave Cruise. The ever present smirk says it all.

As for her suddenly getting bold and telling him what is what, we have been reading stories like that since they got married. The tabloids write stories like that when they see her going off to work and thinking that she suddenly got independent, these same stories appeared when she was shooting Mad Money, the fact that she has about 3 bodyguards/handlers "protecting" her 24-7 seems to have gone over their heads. They made up stories that she got her own NY apartment but she didn't, she is living at Cruise NY apartment. So, what freedom are they talking about or do they think because Tom Cruise isn't there that it means she is free? Her parents spent what seems to be one weekend with her in NY before heading back to Ohio and they were not alone with her, Cruise's mother and his 2 older kids also showed up for the visit.

As for the state of their marriage, Tom is still the boss, she likes the attention she gets as his wife and the only way she will leave is when Cruise says that she can. As for why there is a slight change in her these days, it is because she is working instead of simply totting Suri all over the place, shopping and pretending to have talent as a fashion designer, she is actually working as an actress although not a particularly successful one. She is about to turn 30 and frankly, she has no career to speak of compared to her former DC co-star Michelle Williams who is going from one set to another, lighting up film festivals with her efforts. The film offers are hardly pouring in for Holmes. She has done 3 projects as an actress since she wrapped Batman Begins and Thank You For Smoking before 2005 so in 4 years, she has had a supporting role in a bad movie, Mad Money, a guest spot on Eli Stone and a supporting role in AMS where the bar was set so low for her that the fact that she didn't embarrass herself is the gist of the best reviews she got. So much for marrying a movie star with his own studio.

You might want to take a second look at that 'retraction' and read it carefully.

It has been pointed out that it does not read like something a lawyer would send; even a 'proper Scientology lawyer'. It sounds like it was written by someone who wants to 'sound' important but comes off looking completely unprofessional (as far as lawyers and attorneys go) and reads more like a stick-up-the-ass response from a self-important Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Fan Club President who feels it their 'duty' to 'protect' their beloved Tomkat.
