The Church of Scientology has a vested interest in lessening the credibility of the psychiatric field, because it competes with their own business interests. They present a self-help system which does nothing but psychologically break its followers.
While your criticism of the psychiatric field is well noted, the format in which it was presented demonizes the field as a whole, and does so in a skewed and fear-mongering way. Here are a few quotes from the narrator in the production:- "No-one is immune from any of the hundreds of fictitious disorders invented by psychiatrists ..."
- "Social anxiety disorder is just one of many made-up psychiatric disorders, fueling the boom in psychotropic drug prescription ..."
- "Additional psychiatric drug trials take advantage of the invented disorders in psychaitry's diagnostic and statistic manual to rake in more profits ..."
- "Psychiatrists insist you believe that their drugs are safe and effective, because they are the mental health experts, and you are not. But case after case prooves that trusting them can have disastrous consequences."
