Cleveland, OH (Parma Hts)
Confirmed for Brawl.
6607 Pearl Rd. Parma Hts, OH 11AM again? We need moar people this time, and bigger signs, like some big protest banners or something. And at least a radio next time. We need to think bigger. Since we're a smaller group, we need to make it look like there are more of us than there actually are. While I was there, I heard talk that the CoS wants to move from their unmarked shithole in Parma Hts to a better location in Tremont. If this is true, I think one of our our goals locally should be to prevent that move. I sent an e-mail to Mayor Frank Jackson's office in Cleveland. Joe Cimperman, the councilman for that area, might also be a good person to contact. We need to contact local officials, because protesting alone won't get the Scifags to leave northeast Ohio. Scientology is a cancer, and we can't allow it to spread. Lastly, I'm thinking we should have an intermediate protest in downtown Cleveland between now and 4/12, maybe at City Hall. Most people don't even know that the CoS is in the area, and that would spread some awareness. |

Hopefully all hell doesnt break loose for me and i'll be able to make it this time, saturday turned into a real nightmare for me. I can see about making some signs, i dunno, i never have any good ideas for them.
"Moar like Tom LOSE Amirite?" "Ask me why you're trying to kill free speech" For use against the scientologists of course. Anyways, i'd be up for a pre-protest kind of deal. One thing i think we should look into, so we dont get fucked like atlanta did, is the whole permit issue. Do we really need one or not? just because the police said we dont, doesnt mean anything. Look into some laws if possible, and make sure. the same for masks too. I wish i could do more in the way of organizing stuffs, but parma is definitely not my town. |

A big reason I think not so many people showed up is that Cleveland is Cleveland. Even with the cops around, it's still pretty dangerous to try to sneak away while wearing a mask. Maybe we could organize a mass exodus from the protest to a safer location, then split up so that we don't have to worry about getting shanked in a back alley.

I cant find any local ordinances for parma heights online, aside from tax stuff. I found stuff from Parma, not sure if that would be the same thing. I found this interesting though.
606.20 INTERFERING WITH CIVIL RIGHTS. (a) No public servant, under color of his or her office, employment, or authority, shall knowingly deprive, conspire or attempt to deprive any person of a constitutional or statutory right. (b) Whoever violates this section is guilty of interfering with civil rights, a misdemeanor of the first degree. I didnt read through the whole thing though, like i said i'm not sure if Parma applies to Parma Heights. I do agree there should be an organized plan for leaving the protest, which should include everyone leaving at the same time ideally. Of course, the details of that would have to be worked out at the protest, posting them here for everyone to see kind of defeats the purpose. Just think of a good idea and save it for the protest. |

We should also stand in front of the actual building. It's just a plain building, we need to get a clearer message across to the locals that it's owned by the Co$. From where we were standing, it looked like we were protesting that carpet store. Yes, that means we'd have to give up the fortress, but we weren't even allowed to use it anyway.
Also, with the warmer weather, we should get more foot traffic. More foot traffic means more people who can actually stop and listen to what we have to say. Tossing pamphlets through car windows is all well and good and all, but there is only so much information you can convey. Unless we make bundles. Several fliers stapled together in a little booklet. Which brings up something combining the two ideas. If we move over a bit, we'll be closer to the red light. That way when the traffic is slower, when people stop they'll be closer to us, and we could hand out shit out easier. One more thing, has everyone uploaded their pics? I put some from my camera on ED, but most of my pics suck. I fail at composition. |

Signs
This vid has a good idea for reconnect signs. Chances are, the scientologists in the building may not have disconnected, but maybe they have. However, the public will want to know why we are holding signs that tell them to call home, or whatever. It may just be for the win.
Also, maybe a sign that say, Scientologist are in your neighborhood, with an arrow to point across the street. *Edit* I can knowhowz to uze dah internetz?! http://youtube.com/watch?v=aUeWKhSkqUU Last edited by fightermouse; 03-20-2008 at 06:47 PM.. Reason: massive lack-of-link fail |

Re: Cleveland, OH (Parma Hts)
I'm glad something has materialized in Cleveland. I've been watching from the beginning and have had some doubts about getting involved. To those that have, great job and keep fighting the good fight.

Re: Cleveland, OH (Parma Hts)
Hopefully more choose to show for 4/12... If the attendance had been what the forums had predicted, we would have had 30-40 people for Cleveland, instead, we had 19, which at least was still more than the First one.
I again, will be there. |

Re: Cleveland, OH (Parma Hts)
Just some organizational questions, since we have enough time to get shiz together.
1. Do we have an anon specifically geared to speak with/do interviews with media? 2. Will someone confirm that they will be contacting media for the 12? 3. Will someone confirm that they will be contacting police for the 12? 4. Is someone bringing boombox? 5. Is someone(s) bringing fliers? 6. Has anyone attempted wearing glasses over guy fawkes mask? Win or fail? How many will have guy masks as compared to something else? 7. Do we have pre-protest hanging fliers and placing cards? 8. Do we have a VIDEO camera? I have a digital point-and-shoot that can do video, but you know how that goes. I guess just a preliminary check list to start getting people organized. |

Glasses don't work out too well with a GF on, they'll slip off when worn over, and if the weather's cold, they'll fog up under.

Re: Cleveland, OH (Parma Hts)
Anyone in for April 15th tax day flier drop? People have started talking about handing out fliers to the people backed up at the mail boxes on April 15th. It sounds like it could be fun and get a lot more people involved. Think of all the pissed tax payers finding out that some of the money they JUST sent is funding Scientology. More people mailing representatives maybe?

Also, since the post office is a government building, it is probably a good idea to stand outside or off government property when handing out fliers, just to avoid and run-ins with the local law enforcement. |

Re: Cleveland, OH (Parma Hts)
No guarantee a go, but have been following this a long time so thought maybe could actually be of some service.
There is a Wendy's a block or two from 6607 Pearl Rd.Parma Hts, OH (CoS, I presume). The Wendy's address is 6530 Pearl Rd. This could serve as a meeting place to walk to the protest. It could also serve as a location for splitting up after the protest. As mentioned before, all protesters should leave at about the same time. This time should be announced AT the protest itself to help avoid being followed. Also, any one who can some how call anonymously please call this number: (440) 884-9600 - According to the Parma Heights website, City of Parma Heights, Ohio, this is the number for the Parma Heights Safety Department (Police Station assuming) and the Law Department. Please ask if a permit is necessary to protest and if masks are allowed. Make sure to write down the date and time you called, and who you talked to. Don't want this to be like Atlanta. Thank you for reading wall of text, personal army...jk Last edited by k.i.d.s.; 04-07-2008 at 05:43 PM.. |

It's a much better idea to not have any set rally point, and let protestors park wherever they want, so the COS has more trouble locating their vehicles. But yes, i do agree we should make up some sort of game plan for our departure there, on the spot, after we make sure there's no cos infiltrators. Btw, i missed the last two protests...and honestly i dont know if i'll make this one. The problem is that i just got out of the hospital, and there's a possibility i got the big C, so i'm on some serious medication at the moment. Kind of sucks because i was going to make up some fliers and signs, but at the moment i can barely think straight enough to type. Hopefully this will improve... |

Anyone have any luck with calling the phone number for the police/law offices? Number again is (440) 884-9600. I would call, but I don't know how to anonymize my phone number, and I don't know of any close public phones. Anyone with an anonymous number or whatever, please call. I think it would be a good idea to let the police know and ask if a permit is need, ect. |
