You might want to edit your post a bit, since the second time you wrote the date, you put the 21st instead of 12th, but I've got someone now checking into just what we need to do with City Hall. My first guess would be to spread more info around at colleges, perhaps hit them up with fliers every weekend on some sort of rotational basis.
My main complaint about the last protest was that while we had good fliers, and lulz were had, there was a lack of educated protesters that could get our point across well to inquiring passersby. So between now and the 12th I'd recommend that everybody get well-versed in just what we believe and just why we're doing what we're doing. Another thing we might want to do is create a backup forum or wiki for Miami just in case enturb goes down again. Just a couple ideas and tips off the top of my head right now. |

Just throwing the idea out for consideration:
Move the protest to an area that has more foot traffic. More people=more message spread. Also, someone to talk with the cops ahead of time = good. Better our relations, the less likely we are to get harassed. As far as City Hall goes, Coral Gables municipal code is clear: Fax in notice of the demonstration ahead of time, call to confirm receipt, and we're legally in the clear. Obvious, contact with the cops will cement this, but we don't need a permit. Now, if we want to do something more...elaborate/inspired/over-the-top than a simple processional, a permit may help matters--lets us claim real estate for a little while. |

Mistegirl from the Buffalo thread had a pretty decent idea of leaving a portion of the group in front of the org with reconnect signs, while the others headed to an area with higher foot traffic to spread the word and drive the message home about reconnecting with your family. It would help if we had a bead on some family that has been disconnected in our area though.

I'm willing to print out tons of flyers. Anyone have any particular flyer they want me to print? Little to no color though, please. I need to save that ink...

Just got an email from Lieutenant Agustin B. Diaz. I'm gonna be in contact with this person to discuss next month's protest.

Most excellent.
I also have access to several high-capacity copier-printers and can print out anything letter to 11x17 size. If anyone has any specific requests, post em up. |

1. Maybe we should coordinate dress. Something that can be picked out from the crowd, yet we can all get easily since we can't use V-masks...
2. I saw some advice in another post that instead of calling it a "church" to call it a corporation, which would kinda interest some people. Maybe we can write Corporation of Scientology on our fliers and stuff instead of church? 3. Contact local news? If so, we need to make sure we can all cover our faces. Bandannas or shirt ninja masks under the nose? By the way, I was the "underage b&" D: That fine? Last edited by Fhy121; 03-18-2008 at 02:15 PM.. |

That's what I get for trying to get everything right on St. Patrick's day (Green beer from 5 PM onward and all that). Anyway, fixed the date in the original post. Now then, down to business:
AnonEmouser: Thanks for all your hard work for the 3/15 protest (Finding out if we needed a permit, map of the area ect). Also, the cops that were there seemed alright fine so long as we told them we were going to be there. The one who explained things was cool and seemed slightly sympathetic. I doubt we'll get anything like what happened in Atlanta, but still we'll get in touch with them a good deal ahead of time this time around. Third time's the charm and all that. As for something more elaborate/inspired/over-the-top, that'd have to be a group consensus and more then likely a group pitch in to pay for the permit. Icanfly: I'll admit I noticed that myself (The lack of educated protesters and the lack of a South Florida site). In regards to the lack of educated protesters, I'd suggest we either all get together and review our arsenal of information or send out one big email with all the info we need to inform bystanders of WHY we're protesting. I'll try and get something together in regards to having a back up in case Entur.org goes down. It'll probably be some shitty blog or something, but it'll be something. Also, in regard to half marching and half being in front of the "Church", that sounds good to me. partymusic: Damn good mate. Keep us updated on your contacts with the good Lieutenant. Fhy121: Coordinating dress sounds good to me it'd at least make it somewhat harder to pick us out since we'd all be dressed the same.. Personally, AnonEmouser had a good idea for a dress code of sorts (All black with a tie of your choosing. At the very least it'd make us look like the Anon mascot on our posters). Also, calling it "Corporation" instead of "Church" would work for me. At the very least it'd get a "Wait, I thought they were a church?" reaction out of people, which would (hopefully) get them interested in asking us more about it. Finally, in terms of contracting the local media, I sent emails to WSVN and CBS the monday before the protest telling them it was going on. As we all saw on Saturday, no media attention whatsoever. Disappointing to be sure. In regards to the underage b&, that depends. You a chick or a guy? |

Excellent Job on the 15th everyone! We must make our presence known. Whether id be one person like japan anon,or the 700 London, some is better than none.
I agree with got to read up on our material more, in case we get confronted by a Co$ member who's willing to debate and to better inform the public. How was the moral that Saturday, photo's seem to tell that the weather was killer. Looks like we got to prepare for hydration, brings your camelback, bottled water, gatoraide, etc in the off chance no one brings water to give out. From what I can tell from the postings, we just need to inform the city that we are marching and its fine, and a permit is only needed to occupy some real estate? How was the PD on the whole, where you told to take off your masks and face coverings? I still have a problem with that, its clearly legal. We should set up that someone goes to the station and talk with the chief there the day before on or the date and inform him nicely on the law that they are inadvertently misreading. To make sure he/she informs their officers for that day. A question I have are if megaphones and boomboxes are allowed? Music can help ignore the heat or dull moments. |

We'll see about the big production number; dunno what we could do off-hand, just throwing it out there if we wanted to do the permit thing.
Re: knowledge--there are a few goons putting together a massive infopack that we can run off a few dozen copies of and hand out. Anyone less-informed can bone up as they protest. Once its been proofread I'll post a link here and people can read ahead of time...though I think the enturb crowd is probably already well-informed. PD was--from what little I saw--keeping an eye on us but otherwise cordial. We were apparently told no masks of any kind, but facepaint was OK. We were supposed to keep moving, but given the record-heat they were cool about us flopping down to recharge on that corner. Maybe the guy talking to the cops can show them some of the CoS fair game stuff--like the youtube "outing" videos. They worked well for the German anons; combined with the ACLU info and court case history it may tip the balance. Then again, maybe not. Miami police and "friendly to demonstrations" doesn't seem to naturally go together--remember that big fiasco a few years ago? We're a different sort of animal, though, so lets hope for the best and keep an open mind. So far--mask issue aside--we've been given a fair shake. One thing that we should do ASAP is send them a thankyou card. Any miami anon able to stop off at a hallmark and the coral gables PD? I'd offer but I'm normally an hour away even in decent traffic. |

Guy.
Anyway, I think that dress code would be fairly easy to get. Another thing we could do is separate jobs. Someone get fliers, others get drinks, and so on. Chosen by volunteers. Also, if we do get a permit, we could make our said 'base of operations' on that corner where we chilled and danced to rickrolled for a while. The one right by the Corp. On a side note, I've ordered Dianetics. It's in the mail, coming toward my house at this moment. Wanna read up on my subject. The whole thing cost me $2.80. Looks like they wanted to get rid of it!

Don't forget to wrap your head in cellophane to keep your brains from leaking out your ears and/or your head from exploding.
Is it an older issue or one of the "Golden Era" rewrites? |

reading the wiki on it was weird enough for me... and further convinced me to blow up this comic to bring to 4/12
xkcd either the whole thing, or just the 3rd and 4th boxes. Last edited by partymusic; 03-20-2008 at 10:09 AM.. |

The ISBN for the version I'm buying is 088404632X.
Remember guys, we're not here to insult or ridicule the religion. We're here to inform the public on the wrongful things they do and put a stop to that. The insult and ridicule is a byproduct of the lulz Last edited by Fhy121; 03-19-2008 at 03:50 PM.. |

Since the scientologists make the claim over and over that their texts are available for free in many public libraries, I was planning to hit my closest one to see if Dianetics is as incomprehensible as people claim. Either way, reading it is a good idea, so at least you can give someone pause that's ready to assault you for criticizing Scientology despite not having read any of their texts.

Its the practices and abuses that I care about--and it doesn't matter if its a core tenet of your religion, leaving someone to dehydrate and rot for 17 days while having them locked in a room is wrong. Trying to "obliterate" medical science is wrong. Stalking and terrorizing people for speaking out is wrong. These are not protected beliefs, and therefore we're 100% in the right to protest them and call for their abolition. |

Do we want to proceed with the mini-meetups idea, perhaps for flyering?
