Kay guise, an update. Looks like I was a little overambitious here. No, I'm not giving up, this is just going to take longer than I thought.
I've made some story changes because I realized that doing a multicity game would take like 6 months or so. So with the aim of having something by maybe late September, I'm going to stick with just my town, Cincinnati, for the first game. This will give me a goal I can reach faster, and to hone my skills. I'll do another city after that and hopefully my turn around time will be faster. I may also release the project files so that anyone can use it as a base for a game based in their own town. They will then have minimal editing to do on the spells/weapons and characters and then start plotting out their own maps and story. This way each anon cell can produce their own game since each will be more familiar with their local cult lulz. I should probably make a quick video too showing people how the basics of the RPG maker work, that way people who want to go right nao can grab a copy of RPG maker and go. If someone wants to use another engine, hey, go for it and make sure you post progress so we can anticipate the lulz! We do not shit where we eat. Update, I've got the levels all planned out and I'm going to put them in using the current graphics set just to get the layout done. I'm going to then start adding NPC's and fleshing out the different classes of characters in the game and the people who will help you fight. The sound track is coming along well, and I have some awesome music lined up for this game, which will include some amazing anti scientology songs.
Once I have the game laid out the way I want, I will start making my posts pleading for artists to join the cause and start doing graphics. I want the art last because what I need will depends on how the game turns out. I've overcome the biggest technical problems I had with RPG maker so far via scripts, so from here on out, it is just me making sure I put time into working on it. I think a playable beta by Sept 13th, even if it is missing the final graphics is within reach. We do not shit where we eat. Keep chanology off the chans. http://www.cincyanon.org/ |

You could just do a generic city and allow a user to type in a city name to play. That might save you some migraines. :) That way you can pop in generic landmarks and events that happened globally. Fawkesville is world-wide! :)
Love the idea of calling it "The Game." Har! Also, DL'd the test files, and avenging Mudkips was quite satisfying. :) Some of the text that explains what's going on and what to do is a wee bit hard to read due to low contrast, and if there's a way to bypass the "here's what to do" screens when you replay, that would be cool. Make the "what to do" / "how to play" info very bone-stupid clear for people who don't normally play RPGs as well, if you can, and make it skippable for those who have, or who are replaying the same game. (These are suggestions only--please don't consider them discouraging or take them as harsh criticism, because, honestly, I couldn't do what you have done so far, at least not so quickly or well, and I'm sure this is going to be hugely entertaining when you complete it. Thanks for running with the idea. You rock.) P.S. Will our shop goldz be donated by our German / Marcabian overlords per time spent alive in game ("still alive!") or via successful enturbulations / boss fights? Hee. RE: The Anon 9000 game. Pretty good start there! And hey I don't mind if you swipe stuff from mine when it comes out. I plan to release the entire source for the game too so people can edit and expand or use the already made classes/weapons/skills to create games for their own cities. With 80% of the work done, all they would have to do is write a story and make maps. The weapons and other shit would already be there, and the game would already be mostly balanced. They could tweak or edit items/enemies/characters to their liking as well of course but it would greatly simplfy development to have so much material already there.
So yes, share and share alike. That's the internet way. Sure the cult and maybe some people whose songs we use are going to go on a copyright fueled rampage, but as long as you are anonymous, they can't do shit about it. Just like anything on the internet, the more certain people fight it, the more it spreads around. We do not shit where we eat. OK peoples. I need some ideas here.
Spells. Weapons (can be protest signs or sci-fi stuff, no real weapons). Masks. Hats. Mainly spells. Spell would be trolling attacks, or memes. Describe a short animation and sound to go with them. No need to give me strenghts or damage, I'll determine that if I put them in the game. But if they have effects other than damage like sleep, paralyze, drain of stats like str, int, dex, let me know what your idea for it is. Do let me know if it is attack, stats change or heal/cure. I have about 15 spells so far, want about 35-50 in the end for variety. Some spells may be for certain classes only. The classes are: Protest fag (Fighter) Troll (Wizard) Moralfag (Cleric) Spai (Thief/Ninja) If you have a great idea for another class, do let me know.
