Re: What Are The Risks?
In the beginning, none of us knew what to expect (including the cult). Initially, they started off with their standard repertoire of tactics: aggressive legal action, combined with covert operations designed to put "heads on pikes." This was seen with the three attempted injunctions in Clearwater, and some of the first few individuals - Ath, Rorschash, etc - first having surveillance photos flashed up on youtube, then apparently Sean's cat being killed and left for dead on his doorstep, Ath (I think it was...it was certainly one of the LA lot) reporting a number of "odd" gaslighting type incidents: waking up in his house to find his can of shaving foam squirted empty into a pile next to it, and so on. Stuff that was designed to intimidate basically.
In addition they started sending C&D letters ("we know who you are too!") to people and/or contacting their parents...which did have an effect. (Some) people did drop out as a result, though it hardened the resolve of many more of us.
[Mod edit: removed ridiculous speculation]
Were they the beast we all feared in the beginning?
No. Not by a long shot.
Should we dismiss them entirely, get casual about our security/anonimity and so on. NO!
Bob Minton was getting fairgamed HARD just 7 years ago. I've no reason to doubt Ath and Rorschash's tales either...
The sea is changing, the cult is crumbling, and at heart - OSA especially - you're dealing with people who're extremists. They absolutely believe that what they're doing is THE ONLY SALVATION FOR MANKIND. Things could change, and may well change...and besides what we're doing is working.
Rock on mon amies.
