20 March 2010: An evening at the Shrine Auditorium What a BLAST........... Tory and I arrived at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California at around 5:00 pm. Both sides entryways had police presence with wooden traffic horses - but the side we chose to protest at, had fencing covered in black as a barrier to guests arriving. Behind the barrier were tables and chairs and a band who played a few songs. Also, the horses and police presence on the side we were at.exceeded the sidewalk where few passerbys were allowed to cross. One protester, aware of the permit issues, had dox, showing that the sidewalk is only to be closed to pedestrian traffic in the event of an emergency.Tory and I went across and stood with our signs for a while, but were eventually asked to go back across the street. That's not O.K. However, on the other side of the street from the heavy 'security' was the University of Southern California parking lot, the main lot where public incoming members were to park for the event. They had to walk down the sidewalk or come from the car ramps and pass by the traffic light, right where we were allowed to stand!!! There were 7 or 8 protesters at one point. This soon brought over three handlers, whom eventually became fixtures by the traffic pole. Three policemen soon came over and planted themselves behind us all. What a grand party we had on the corner with about 14 people in a very close proximity - to greet - and I mean BOATLOADS of - incoming public members who had to WAIT (for the light to change) to cross the street - and this went on -- for several hours --- before the event began!! They were incoming from two directions to cross the street. (Talk about a foot traffic extravaganza!) Being that the Shrine Auditorium has been in the past a place of real grandeur, we decided to award passerbys with some classic entheta. With real common sense... "Hubbard died with vistaril in his a@@" "After 300k, you learn that you have space aliens infesting your body. Go to the net and prove us wrong." "Are we crazy for wanting to help save your kids college money?" "To the many young adults: "Call your mother." "Scientology disconnects families.""David Miscavige was a high school dropout." "Hold on to your wallets and run like hell!" "Step right up to see Hubbard the Master stage hypnotist." Good signage. One well-armed anon came with several 'scientology breaks up families signs. I had a number of vintage paper signs - 'The bridge ends when you go broke' 'scientology the church with a body count.' 'scientology is your ruin' Other signs addressed the cults labor abuse. There was a police issue that needed(s) resolution, as an arrogant member walking down the sidewalk bends down and over to knock into Tory, and his head into her sign; and then turns and asks loudly why she knocked into him? The police officer laughs with him. (Was this staged or what?) Standing right there I said, "When he comes and asks for charges you'll laugh at him, right?" He looks puzzled all of a sudden. He later says he will talk to him when he comes out. Yeah right. The guy on the unicycle was cool. Or was that the unipsych? :-p He went on the bike path area with a sign. Wheels work! At first the handlers tried talking loud at the same time we were addressing each group waiting to cross the street. (To block the virgin Hubbard ears from hearing such truth.) Our 'cross-assists' were penetrating ear drums and turning heads. The police repositioned all of us one time to make room for the heavy traffic crossing over the bridge to regging hell. Moe Larry and Curly's trick to block the passage and then alert the police to move 'the critics' back left THEM in the walkway. ORLY? The police looked at them and said "YOU TOO." That didn't work. LOL! Handler gal #2 stormed once to officer friendly and said something to the effect of, "they are bothering blah blah." Everyone stood silent for the moment when the police officer said, "They have the right to express their views." HOORAY! We split up after awhile,. one group on each side of the driveway into the parking structure, right across from the grand entrance. Lots of honks, several flippings of the bird at our comments. And even a couple thumbs up and head nods from the police by the entrance when the band played some loving, caring song about togetherness, as the "Scientology Breaking Up Familes" sign waved to the beat. Just a stark moment out of many that made us feel that we made a difference last night. May the Net be with them. Nice meeting y'all. A pleasure. sorry no pics, heh well...

Re: 20 March 2010: An evening at the Shrine Auditorium Sparrow can afford to be smug now. Scintell, thanks for the yummy report of happenings at the raid. I heard the traffic and the pedestrians all fall silent as you all waited for that police officer to say, "They have a right to express their views." Then pandemonium!
Re: 20 March 2010: An evening at the Shrine Auditorium If Scintellanon needs a camera for future raids, or if a regular attendee Anon needs one for pics I got one (but only one) available to donate. It is a digital camera and, though not recent, it sure works well. It comes with all its accessories and computer cords too. We need pics or else we have to GTFO, right? ;-P PM me if interested.
Re: 20 March 2010: An evening at the Shrine Auditorium Tory has more than one camera...where are her pics? Have her send the links to you or something.
Re: 20 March 2010: An evening at the Shrine Auditorium One of the assigned traffic pole huggers - with 3 watchers of his own His job was not easy. He had four broads on his ass ~ and was charged with spiking anon drinks, (made him crack a smile), and for letting parents cross the street with kids who would be spending their kids college funds on Hubbard. He remained utterly silent and should be ashamed of himself...We invited him to take his jacket off and go dancing several times without success. Which way was that sign pointed? Some people were VERY LATE All of your shrines are belong to us!
Re: 20 March 2010: An evening at the Shrine Auditorium Ken Long (OSA WUS), Jason True (PAC Security) and LAPD officers collude to deny the general public from use of sidewalks in violation of LA permit requirements along Jefferson Boulevard during the LRH Birthday Celebration at the Shrine Auditorium, 20 March 2010.
Re: 20 March 2010: An evening at the Shrine Auditorium It's always gratifying to inform the Scientology public about what's going on in their cult, that they refuse to look at. Maybe you woke a few up. Almost certainly there were many who would have joined you, if it didn't mean getting disconnected from their families. Nice job, everyone.
Re: 20 March 2010: An evening at the Shrine Auditorium Fantastic work. I giggled at some of your antics. Well done!
Re: 20 March 2010: An evening at the Shrine Auditorium A video has emerged.... This is ten minutes out of several hours. Lots and lots of people passed us by. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCj-NFmtkLU]YouTube - Scientology: L ron hubbard b-day event at the shrine[/ame] ------- Many good comments, lots of serious engaging and minute talks with many, and lots of laughter. A notable comment by a couple of University of So Cal college students near the end: "Is this where the space ships are picking them up tonight?" scientology makes people jaywalk from the lrh life exhibit to the sea ogre headquarters! http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j188/dblin/seaogrejaywalker.png
