Are CoS security goons licensed in California?

Does anyone know if CoS has bothered to do the wog-world paperwork to get their security goons in LA and Gold properly licensed as security guards?

Why I ask is that here in Ontario, you can't just grab a heavy-duty flashlight, put on a pseudo-cop uniform with a fake badge and call yourself a security guard. You need to be licensed.

California does seem to have rules and regulations on that too. And it looks like it should apply to CoS's uniformed goons:
BSIS Issues License Guide as Part of Effort to Curb Unlicensed Activity - California Department of Consumer Affairs
And before someone says that only applies to guards who work for a company and not security personnel for an organization like CoS:
Does anyone know what the score is on that with CoS's security guards? It would be great lulz to see their crackerjack badges taken away.

Good find - I know the cult tends to know the law, and have all of these types of ducks in a row...but it's certainly worth asking the question...

Re: Are CoS security goons licensed in California?

I dunno. On the attack, they do, but in the day-to-day operations they tend to fall into the "we are the authorities" 'tude and let the wog rules slide unless their noses are rubbed in it.

I'll bet that they just swap people in and out of security "hats" as they need them, and since this requirement is relatively new, it might not have occurred to them that they can only use people with the proper licenses.

It would be a fun question to ask in a three-way with an anon, a police officer and a goon: "So, as a security guard, you're carrying your BSIS license on you, right?"

There were some threads a while ago about PIs and security guards that had some expert anons. It'd nice to hear from them.

that would be an interesting conversation if the guard didnt have one but i get the impression that the security guards don't usually engage in a lot of conversation

There's another aspect to consider: insurance.

Even if it's "in house", those guards have to be insured, and usually, bonded against any damage that they can do to the public (although state laws vary. I don't know about CA).

Yet another aspect: are any of those eastern-european never-ask-questions-always-follow-orders-types that they love so much at Gold base armed? Unless they're naturalized U.S. citizens (phony religious visas won't cut it), they're breaking the law.

Re: Are CoS security goons licensed in California?

i don't think eugene ingram is licensed in cali (just florida) and he followed and photographed me (thanks kendrick...you moron); i due diligencedness and couldn't find any current ref to PI license. he attempted to intimidate me and curtail my free speech. the church is conspiring to limit the free speech of hundreds of citizens. critics of scientology>>constitutional rights are being systematically curtailed through the activities of hired and volunteer bullies. they are conspiring to deprive us of our rights.

isnt this part of the language setting in action the injunction against keith henson and his *cohorts*, ha?:

"...in that he had interfered by threats, intimidation, or coercion, with the exercise or enjoyment by any individuals of rights secured by the Constitution or laws of California and the United States."
  7. Re: Are CoS security goons licensed in California?

A licenced P.I. is legally* allowed to act as a P.I. in the state(s) that they are registered to work in (my guess, in this case is Florida). A P.I. is allowed to cross state lines and legally* act as a P.I. only if the subject of their current investigation does so first, and they report this fact to the new state's P.I. governing board in a timely manner (they effectively "borrow" a P.I. licence from the new state, but only for a limited time and only for the one "case" they are working on).

...Otherwise they are either impersonating a P.I. and/or a police officer, both of which are crimes.

Please note: these guys are great at bluffing but have no real power.

P.I.s (private dicks), Bailbondsmen (bountyhunters), Security Guards (rent-a-cops), Personal Security (bodyguards/goons), Process Servers (combat law-clerks), and Repossession-Agents (repo men) are all in the same boat, legally. They have some (very limited) legal powers that regular people don't have, but they are not cops nor gods. Feel free to tell them to go fuck themselves when they are doing something illegal, but and have cameras around, because these scumbags ARE going to lie their ass off to the REAL authorities (dox will castratre them, though).
They tend to talk the talk but can't walk the walk (otherwise they'd be in real law-enforcement, not some fucking wannabe or wash-out reject).

    *"We are the authorities." ect...

(There's some consolation for all the dirty tricks that there assholes do: they won't get paid when the "church" is broke. A bounced check or two will end their loyalty the Scientology crime syndicate quite quickly...)

Re: Are CoS security goons licensed in California?

And if they aren't licensed, then they have no power at all--Just Bad People who could face administrative penalties of up to $5,000 per unlicensed security guard by BSIS.
That's no big deal for a normal operation, but they've reportedly been using foreign nationals, probably on religious student visas, as security guards. (And what about their Narconon/Criminon retreads with a criminal history?) I doubt that they've bothered get all (any?) of their Sea Org goons around LRH Way properly licensed. Unfortunately, it looks like it depends on local cops to inspect and enforce these regulations, which would be a problem. (Otherwise it would be a laugh to see all their Bad People get nailed the next time they try to close LRH Way.)

I just know that Popeye AKA PolyGripFailGuy AKA Ed Richardson is properly licensed and current.

On the other hand, I'd like to know about Cigar Man from Tustin, Lexus IS300 Man from Tustin, and SciMichaelMoore from LA. If any of you can help find this out, please advise.

Re: Are CoS security goons licensed in California?

It's not really the PIs. Since it's likely they'd be in situations where they'd need to show a PI license, and they're run by OSA, I'd expect most of them are covered. (Except when they impersonate police officers.)

It's the "Security" goons with their pseudo cop uniforms and badges on "L. Ron Hubbard Way" that I wonder about. A lot of them are just going to get tossed the uniform and told to beat the street. If they're not licensed, that's a hefty fine if a real cop actually checks for that.

Re: Are CoS security goons licensed in California?

lets see... not sure about guard card laws and all that down in socal. but...
to be a rentacop... you need to
    A) have a guard card from the gov or company not sure which... correct me if this is wrong please.
    B) be in training for it or have had training for security
and C) at least be under supervision by someone who has a guard card and or is a supervisor for the company to let you know what to do.
    however in corporate american schemes...
if the said security is in house. ie they elect someone as security... they are allowed to remove anyone as told by the people who run the place. as long as it is within private property of said management.
to which knowing the cult uses their own personal slave army. they get people to apply for their guard cards or they call in a company which send them security.
most of the time many of the guards dont have shit. even though they have to have the guard card and or lisence to carry whatever stuff they carry.
if it is not on them they are liable for any shit that goes down.

if they have all permits and cards. they cannot be stopped.

not sure if you can walk up and ask them to show their guard card or anything like that without a PD there... and it better be under complete suspicion with proven facts in order to call PD on the scene or else your looking at a bullet to the foot.

dont know if that will help. its just knowledge that i gained whilst doing security and shit. have fun ta ta.

Re: Are CoS security goons licensed in California?

Here's the page to check names to see if they are licensed (no dump by organization, pity):
Verify a License - Bureau of Security and Investigative Services

And here's the license application fact sheet:
Security Guard Fact Sheet - Bureau of Security and Investigative Services

Note the 40 hour training course. I suppose it mentions that you can't dogpile someone without warning, stick your knee on their neck, and use restraints? I guess the CoS goons were taking a smoke-break when that was covered...

    Thread necro for new information:
This route might allow skipping local law enforcement, but probably requires hard dox of unlicensed security guards or PIs.

How can we find out if they are all licensed?
  19. Anonymous Member

    Ask them?
  20. Anonymous Member

I do believe if these folks are not in state regulated uniforms they are breaking the law. The can only enforce privet property issues. Report Report Report!
  21. DeathHamster Member

The uniforms appear to conform to the regulations:
