New Leak: Top DNC Official Wanted to Use Bernie Sanders’s Religious Beliefs Against Him Among the nearly 20,000 internal emails from the Democratic National Committee, released Friday by Wikileaks and presumably provided by the hacker “Guccifer 2.0,” is a May 2016 message from DNC CFO Brad Marshall. In it, he suggested that the party should “get someone to ask” Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders about his religious beliefs. https://theintercept.com/2016/07/22...ernie-sanderss-religious-beliefs-against-him/
DNC Staffers Mocked the Bernie Sanders Campaign, Leaked Emails Show Quote: A new trove of internal Democratic National Committee emails, stretching back to April 2016, released by Wikileaks show that the organization’s senior staff chafed at Bernie Sanders’s continued presence in the presidential primary. Staffers were also irritated by criticism that they were biased towards Hillary Clinton. In May, chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (DWS) reacted to an MSNBC anchor criticizing her treatment of Bernie Sanders during the Democratic presidential primary by trying to force her to apologize. On May 18th, DNC staffer Kate Houghton forwarded to Wasserman-Schultz a Breitbart News story highlighting remarks by MSNBC anchor Mika Brzezinski in which she called for the chairwoman to step down over perceived bias against Sanders during the presidential primary. Wasserman-Schultz reacted angrily, writing that this was the “LAST straw” and instructing communications director Luis Miranda to call MSNBC president Phil Griffin to demand an apology from Brzezinski. Clinton is evil, but my hope is that she will win the election after enough people realize that she is less evil and more rational than the alternative. This excellent editorial explains Trump quite well: Donald Trump is a unique threat to American democracy By The Washington Post Editorial Board, July 22, 2016 Quote: Donald J. Trump, until now a Republican problem, this week became a challenge the nation must confront and overcome. The real estate tycoon is uniquely unqualified to serve as president, in experience and temperament. He is mounting a campaign of snarl and sneer, not substance. To the extent he has views, they are wrong in their diagnosis of America’s problems and dangerous in their proposed solutions. Mr. Trump’s politics of denigration and division could strain the bonds that have held a diverse nation together. His contempt for constitutional norms might reveal the nation’s two-century-old experiment in checks and balances to be more fragile than we knew. Any one of these characteristics would be disqualifying; together, they make Mr. Trump a peril. We recognize that this is not the usual moment to make such a statement. In an ordinary election year, we would acknowledge the Republican nominee, move on to the Democratic convention and spend the following months, like other voters, evaluating the candidates’ performance in debates, on the stump and in position papers. This year we will follow the campaign as always, offering honest views on all the candidates. But we cannot salute the Republican nominee or pretend that we might endorse him this fall. A Trump presidency would be dangerous for the nation and the world. Continued here, with 6,000 comments: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...d823cc-4f4f-11e6-aa14-e0c1087f7583_story.html
I see this has some traction. I apologise for the Koch Brothers being frisian from a Frisian father who traded oil with Stalin and is indeed from my country. Trufax You can check that because I KNOW it sounds unbelievable.
There is the 3rd party option in the US election, which is the best choice we've got. It won't win an election, but with enough votes, it'll send a clear message. It is worth noting that the SJWs got bitch slapped by the Sad Puppies, then reacted in such a way as to hurt a Sci-Fi institution. Pretty childish behavior, in my opinion.
BS It's only the best choice for fools who want to help Trump win without voting for him. Yes Clinton is a phony conscience free con artist but like Sanders I think she is a much less dangerous and harmful one than Trump. I don't want to vote for her but the fools who have and will vote for Trump are forcing me to do it.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz to resign as DNC chair as email scandal rocks Democrats Bernie Sanders made renewed call for resignation after email leak Clinton campaign blamed Wikileaks release on Russian hackers Sanders calls for new leader as Clinton camp blames Russia Democratic convention: fight for America’s soul moves to Philadelphia Quote: The chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee announced her resignation on Sunday, two days after thousands of party emails were leaked and just a day before the party’s national convention began to nominate Hillary Clinton for president. The Florida congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced that she would step down just hours after Bernie Sanders, who had long accused her of bias during his long primary campaign against Clinton, repeated a call for her departure. <snipped> Sanders had accused Wasserman Schultz and the DNC of prejudice for months, most notably when he sued the DNC for denying him access to voter data – a denial itself prompted by the DNC’s accusation that his campaign had inappropriately seen data belonging to Clinton’s team. His campaign also suggested that the DNC had scheduled debates at odd hours, when people would be less likely to tune in and hear the message from Sanders, a relative newcomer on the national stage. On Sunday, Sanders told ABC: “I think she should resign, period. “I don’t think she is qualified to be the chair of the DNC,” he told CNN, “not just because of these emails, which revealed the prejudice of the DNC, but also because we need a party that reaches out to working people and young people. And I don’t think her leadership style does that.” But he added that the emails did not surprise him. “I mean, there’s no question to my mind, no question to any objective observer’s mind, the DNC was supporting Hillary Clinton and I’m not shocked by this,” he said. The DNC and a cybersecurity firm it hired earlier this year said the party’s email system system had been breached by Russian hackers, a hypothesis seized on by the Clinton campaign on Sunday. “Experts are telling us that Russian state actors broke into the DNC, stole these emails, [and are] releasing these emails for the purpose of helping Donald Trump,” campaign manager Robby Mook said. In June Wasserman Schultz called the breach a “serious incident” and said the firm, Crowdstrike, had “moved as quickly as possible to kick out the intruders and secure our network”. You are blaming the Iraq War on Nader? OK, then...moving on, we've all agreed that both candidates are evil, and yet some of you are saying, "We should vote for an evil person to prevent an evil person from becoming president." Politics really can scramble people's brains.
I don't see any suggestions or proposals here. It's a little short on time for any serious third-party alternatives. What's your point?
Well thats not strictly true is it? Bernie could still snag the nom at convention if wikileaks really does have a smoking gun up its sleeve as it claims?
It won't happen and I hope to God that the Dems don't land in Trumps shit. Bernie disagrees with most of Clinton's plans, but Bernie is no fool, he won't do a Cruz. The system is rigged and at least Wikileaks ( via Russian hackers via Putin on behalf of Trump) exposed the DNC. She fell on her sword. The lack of security in the DNC servers is an embarrassment. With the rigging of the system exposed it's possible things will not be as crooked because the running dogs and lackies will not suck up quite so completely. Bernie is sane, Bernie believes in America, Bernie will focus on attacking Trump. He will get concessions for doing that so more of his beliefs will be supported. Long /short- Bernie has a lot of power right now. Ramble ramble.
The basic problem in the US (and UK) is the election of people through the "first past the goalpost" principle. You'll never have actual representational democracy before you Anglophone lot fixes this. In a representative democracy, a guy like Nader would have had an actual influence on US policies, and there would perhaps not have been an Iraqi War.
lol/ You tell me my idea back to me, then tell me I didn't offer one. We are screwed this season. We have to look forward to 2018 and beyond. 2016 is lost. The point is to let the elected officials know in the only way that matters to them, votes, that the choices they are offering are not acceptable. If we vote for enough thrid party candidates (and it matters not which one) then we can shake up the Establishment, just a little. Keep doing that, and maybe we can get traction. Otherwise, we'll just get more evil. As long as you knowingly vote for someone you think is 'less evil' than the other candidate, you are abdicating your responsibility as a citizen. Voting for evil expecting good is pure idiocy. The problem truly is that there can never be a legitimate political authority. That is the crux of the matter.
Bipartisanship at its finest... http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2016/...r-up-in-philadelphia-protest-against-clinton/
Unless we're talking direct democracy you're probably right. It's impractical beyond half-a-hundred people though. Representational democracy is by no means perfect, but it's the system of choice in all of those countries where people generally seem more content with their country, politicians and life in general. So to paraphrase DeathHamster, it's the least shitty of a number of shitty options.

Bernie Delegates Decry 'Manufactured Unity,' Pledge to 'Raise Attention' on Hillary Speech Night | PJ Media Quote: A group of delegates pledged to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has vowed to take unspecified action to "raise attention" to their "accountability and transparency" concerns tonight as Hillary Clinton accepts the Democratic Party's nomination. Describing themselves as "a few representatives of an independent group of national delegates," Jessa Lewis, Jessica Justice and Joshua Trupin -- all Sanders delegates from Washington state -- distributed to media a document explaining why some Bernie voters aren't falling in line with Clinton's nod. "As part of a grassroots effort pledged delegates undertook a series of independent actions during this week’s Democratic National Convention looking to raise awareness of urgent issues that have been neglected by our national party and media," the memo states. "We are concerned with the manufactured 'unity' narrative in the media and are fighting for the soul of the Democratic Party and Democracy." "Election Justice USA has provided statistical analysis of the recent Democratic primary elections that show widespread statistical anomalies in at least 21 states that could be sufficient to call the results of our candidate selection process into question," they continued. "Many pledged delegates also expressed concern over the information contained in the ongoing DNC email leaks, which have revealed details of a process that was engineered in favor of a preselected winner." Election Justice USA, which describes itself as "a nonpartisan national organization of seasoned election integrity experts, attorneys, statisticians, journalists and activists," recently released a report asserting that "the totals reported on the Democratic side in the race between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders may not be correct." "In state after state, independent examination by two separate analysts found suspect statistical patterns giving Clinton inflated percentages, that in all likelihood, are not fully based on actual votes, and showing Sanders with what appear to be artificially depressed totals," the report continues. The group of Washington delegates noted that "as part of a grassroots effort, we delegates chose to take action on Tuesday evening after Secretary Clinton was nominated by acclamation. This started by peacefully walking out of the Wells Fargo Arena and staging a silent action in the media tent." Since the beginning of the election, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has had the odds stacked against him in the race against Hillary Clinton, one of the establishment’s most corrupt members. http://bipartisanreport.com/2016/07...-184-delegates-due-to-election-fraud-details/
The Associated Press @AP 1 minute ago BREAKING: Computer service used by Clinton campaign was accessed as part of DNC hack, campaign says. The Latest: Computer system used by Clinton campaign hacked Campaign aides say the intrusion was part of a larger breach of the Democratic National Committee that was made public earlier this week, when WikiLeaks released the organization's private emails. The violation concerned a DNC analytics data program used by the campaign and a number of other organizations. Spokesman Nick Merrill says a review conducted by outside cyber security experts has found "no evidence" that the campaign's "internal systems have been compromised." The campaign refused to give additional details about the program or nature of the attack. http://bigstory.ap.org/article/df50...68/latest-manafort-midnight-due-obama-clinton
