Some obscure Christian organization is hosting a 4 day Conference and Retreat at the Applied Scholastics campus facilities and dormitories in Missouri.

It involves Miming and Dancing and Bible Scriptures (no, I'm not joking).

This is the group having the Conference:

Never heard of them before, but alarm bells are going off in my head that Scientology is using their front group Applied Scholastics to lure in unsuspecting people.

Maybe Applied Scholastics will try to cure the Mimes of their Mis-Understood words...

Anyway, a lot of the plain text of the conference ad is copied here, for Google indexing, in case the site gets 404ed later.

    Bible thumpers, mimes and Scientology.

Three of my least favorite things, all in one place. If they serve cooked carrots and beets, my hell would be complete.

Sounds like they're just renting the facilities, and with income sliding the way it is, Cof$ probably figured it was an easy way to make some $$. They'll probably use it for "see how helpful we are" PR purposes also.

'Poons might do some good, but may not get much traction with a group trying to keep the cost of their "retreat" down.

I thought you might like to know some facts about Applied Scholastics. It is a front group for the Anti Christian Church of Scientology. Don't believe me? Here is the founder LHR talking about how Christ was made up. (At the higher levels in Scientology you hear LRH in this audio state Christ is made up, it is an implant and there is no Christ!) (Here is says Aleister Crowley is a good friend of his and signs his work with 666. This is in LRH's own voice!) (This is a three part video where we explains the the real problems people face come from Xenu the evil galactic overlord!)

I am familiar with this form of worship. They are a cousin to the Penticostals (sp?) who embrace the "fruits of the spirit," speaking in tongues and the like. I find them a kind, gentle, non-judgmental group. They are considered weirdos by many mainline churches because they don't sit still in the pews and behave. At the same time, they are Bible centered (Bible thumpers?) who would be very interested to know the Scientology connection. I doubt that they would cancel their event, but they will probably do a lot of praying for the school buildings, staff etc. leave 4 Spiritual Laws booklets inside the Dianetics books, etc. Good times.
