Re: Forum reorganization Just say what you want in here. We have looked at your structural proposal before. The conversation we had in PM is forwarded to da5id, if that is what you wanted to discuss with him. There is no need to push it when you don't (immediatly) get what you want.
Re: Forum reorganization What difference does this really make to how you use the forums, or how much time you have to spend on Chanology related stuff? What does the holiday season have to do with it? Had you saved your xmas shopping list in one of the subforums, and now you can't find it? The search tool still works just the same as it ever did.
Re: Forum reorganization I think the point that you're missing is that General Discussion is now "off topic" - there are no off topic subforums anymore. CBB - you're right on...I think the point it to try and make the site less intimidating to people who might not be as gungho about Chanology as we are, but still want to learn about it, and get involved. Maybe they're more interested in the censorship side of things - which is how we all got here in the first place, remember - and maybe bring some fresh interest to what we're doing, through the censorship aspect. Or, sorry, is this clubhouse private now? No new people allowed?
Re: Forum reorganization This is definitely why for me. I also just happen to think it looks a lot cleaner now as well.
Re: Forum reorganization I was unclear on my third point. I did not intend to discuss the mechanics of making changes. I'll try again. 3. User input on fundamental change. Imo, a switch to general promotion of cause-oriented advocacy, such as net neutrality (or net censorship or free speech or whatever), may represent a fundamental shift in direction away from nypa/stay-on-target that warrants scrutiny by the broad user-base. Such discussion is difficult when many users are distracted by the holidays and less active on the boards. Also,
Re: Forum reorganization Free Internet Init? Might work a bit better then Net Censorship Like the changes, love the whining, keep it up mods/admins.
Re: Forum reorganization I agree. If the old global monthly planning and post game threads aren't archived on a monthly basis, it may get a bit messy and confusing with multiple planning and post game threads for the same cities.
Re: Forum reorganization We're going over that right now, actually. As you can see the Planning and Post Game categories are still seperate, so that part should remain clear. Our current thought is that we should change the way we make threads to be titled as such: City, State (or City, Country) - Date eg: Stockholm, Sweden - January 10 global We were considering going thru and changing some of the older threads to reflect this and make it easy to see. Thoughts?
Re: Forum reorganization i don't think it should be confusing as long as people title their threads informatively
Re: Forum reorganization How I see WWP looking like Breaking News = Media = Leaks & Legal = Fairgame Situation Rooms Net Censorship Sub-Boards: Youtube 2008 Media Shit Storms Sub-Boards: John Duignan / The Complex , Sklar v. IRS, Valkyrie Court Cases Sub-Boards: FormerlyIN, AnonOrange Activism = General Discussion Sub-Boards: Personal Experience, Off Topic = How To = Think Tank = Current Projects Sub-Boards: Quick Projects, Long Term Projects, Translation and Text Composition Projects = Fliers, Signs, and Other Protest Media Fliers, Signs, Music/Audio, Letters and Press Releases = Education, Research and Inside Reports Sub-Boards: CoS Front Groups Protests and Raids = Monthly Protest Planning [ Could either stay as Monthly or by City ] = Post Game reports [ Could either stay as Monthly or by City ] = Raid Planning [ Would be by City (I think) ] = Raid Reports [ Would be by City (I think) ] Sub-Boards: Asia Pacific, Europe, UK, Germany, Australia, Canada, USA - East Coast, USA - Central/Mountain, USA - West Coast, Rest of the World Site Information = Site News and Announcements = Website Issues = Website Requests and Consensus Internationalization = International Discussion Sub-Boards: Deutsch, Espanol, Francais, Nederlands, PO POLSKU, Skandinaviska Basement = THUNDERDOME = Old Protests and Raids (in time get rid of?? ) Sub-Boards: Global Protests, Post Game Reports = Old Situation Rooms Sub-Forums XenuTV, ENG "Cult" Stu Wyatt. IAS Event 2008, Epic Sword Guy. Uwe Stuckenbrock = Other Old Boards Sub-Forums Operation Tax Day Flier Drop
Re: Forum reorganization What about a sub-forum under each monthly forum for each prior month? Such as /USA - West Coast/December '08/ where all the threads from that monthly and region can be moved. That might make it a little easier to browse past threads.
Re: Forum reorganization General Discussion * Personal & Fair Game < Where are all the Fair Game threads? * Scientology Activism < Was general discussion * Net Censorship < That's what the 1 in the Situation Room section is for. * YSOSRS < What was off topic for? As for Raids, people now have to look though Raid plans as well as Raid reports? Raid plans and Raid reports should be as two separate boards General and Activism - Why are Global Protests and Internationalization slap in the middle. And why two sections? was a heap better as one section AnonOrange and FormerlyIN Situation Room - Time to split this board don't you think?
Re: Forum reorganization I don't think Net Censor gives our message as it might look like we are in favor of censorship. How about "Hands off our internets" as it is an edgier statement for the whole subject.
Re: Forum reorganization Censorship Shit Storms? Sub-Boards: Youtube 2008, John Duignan / The Complex
Re: Forum reorganization I like that. =) But if that's too casual, how about just simply "Free Speech on the Net"?
Re: Forum reorganization I'm a fan of less sub forums with lots more posts then many sub forums with sporadic use. Specially for those of us who RSS. Just saying Bluebell from your layout it's just confusing. My take is they are tying to make the forums more user friendly as in new user friendly. I like what they've done so far. I say even less sub forums but I can understand wanting to keep the world sections for raids split. I just think most people use one thread for planning and one for reporting. Mixing up all the regions more better in my opinion. Just more eyeballs on things people don't normally pay attention to. Your millage will vary.
Re: Forum reorganization Had to correct your typo there... but regardless, I think this is a good point. I never really think to look at what Sweden's doing for their raids, cuz, I'm not there, ya know? But seeing that Hamburg 300 video was AWESOME and I would have missed it, if it had only been posted in their particular thread...
Re: Forum reorganization Well I'd like to thank the mods for all their hard work but thats what they are born for (Dance bitches, dance) Honestly, I get the impression looking for a larger audience is all about selling ads. and if thats about money an anti-CoS movement needs money just like everyone else. Also it is safer right now this board exists to attack one specific group. In court that looks bad. If the board exists to defend certain rights then we are more legit, more acceptable. Me? I'm still here for one reason only: to erase the stain that crazy fat fuck left on humanity. So thats is? we iz bonified, certified and respectable? All you little fapmonkeys tuck in your shirts and stop calling the president a nigger. And seriously, the mods around here have a lot to do, do it well and without any hope of personal reward. Now stop reading threads and get back to work.
Re: Forum reorganization I really strongly dislike some of the changes. I just do not see how the site is now more user friendly. If someone can explain how is (suposedly) more user friendly please, please do.
Re: Forum reorganization stfu and get used to it for a few weeks... then come back and bitch again if you still think it sucks
Re: Forum reorganization The site is fine. Only an intellectually deficient would have difficulty navigating it.
Re: Forum reorganization My suggestions: Move the activism section of subforums up a bit - surely current projects etc is something that should be nearer to the top than buried below the International forums? Also, move the Scientology Activism subforum out from under General and into the Activism section.
Re: Forum reorganization Bluebell...chill, all will be fine. We all got your message of concern and I am sure the mods did too.
Re: Forum reorganization Lolwut? Post them in the Dome. You know we need a major lulz injection down there.
Re: Forum reorganization ...personally I quite like it. PROTIP, or respectful suggestion: if you want to evaluate the usability of the site you might want to consider starting by writing down ten or twenty scenarios in which you might use the wwp forums - the following list is just a random set of possibilities, not intended to be exhaustive: when is the next raid in my city where is the nearest scilon base to my city who are anonymous I am a journalist looking for info about anonymous I am a journalist looking to set up an interview with some anonymous I have an idea that I'd like anon to consider, where do I post it? I need flyers/a poster/a flag design je parle pas l'anglais??? hai you guize, been busy for months, wats going on? If there are particular items on this list/your list that you think the site makes more difficult than the old layout did then that might be a usability problem - if neither layout supports a particular scenario well then that's potentially one too. It might sound like too much effort but working from a list of 'things that I think are difficult with this particular layout' might simplify a few things, including helping you yourself work out why you don't like the new layout, and helping other people figure out what is not well supported with this layout, and why you don't like it. Has the number of clicks to complete common tasks increased? Is it now impossible to find the relevant subforum for some task without searching? tl;dr: Explaining why you find that this version has poor usability, with examples and some detail, might sound less bawwww and more constructive
Re: Forum reorganization Is ok, the mods have done "great" job with the changes on WWP, the changes are just soo AWESOME, it makes the site a dream to navigate. I like having to jump over other sections to read boards that should be next to each other. [General and Activism - Global Protests and Internationalization slap in the middle.] I like clicking an boards only to see there is nothing in it, etc
Re: Forum reorganization Hey, sarcasm! yeah, that's the method I always choose when I'm trying to get a point across. Works better than anything else in the world. Amazingly effective In all seriousness, drama is always a shame. With respect: you have raised at least one very decent point so far, though it might be a forum code issue rather than a setup one (that empty subforums aren't marked as such), so why spoil that useful input with sarcasm?
Re: Forum reorganization We looked at your proposal and ill just try to paraphrase it . We used to have Warehouses that we're empty for 90% each containing one of the containing items. Footballs, Baseballs, Hockey sticks, Baseball Bats and Running shoes. What we did is put baseballs & baseballbats together inbetween the footballs & running shoes and the hockey sticks. The solution you proposed was to move the basebal bats into the hockey sticks warehouse taking the hockeysticks into the football ware house the footballs would end up in the running shoe warehouse and well .. the running shoes would end up where the basebal bats used to be. For the hundred time, WE LOOKED AT YOUR PROPOSAL STOP BEING A FLIPPING
i fucking lol'd
WHINNY BITCH ABOUT IT NOT BEING USED.
