Regarding the new military charges, Greenwald is hitting it out of the park: http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/index.html
"WikiLeaks cables in which American diplomats recount the extravagant corruption of Tunisia's rulers helped fuel a popular uprising that has overthrown the government. And it is virtually impossible to read news articles about any significant event in the Middle East without encounteringreferences to important information revealed by WikiLeaks documents. Thus do we have the strange spectacle of Americans cheering on the democratic uprisings in the Middle East and empathizing with the protesters...and disdaining those (Manning) who may have played a role in sparking the protests. " Very clear and well written. Thank you Glen Greenwald.
There is a comparison to Daniel Ellsberg, but Ellsberg worked for the government and was accused of treason when he leaked the Pentagon Papers. Manning is in much deeper shit- he is a soldier.
The point made by Greenburg is apt, that even though he is subject to unique military charges, it is odd that in one instance there is no charges, yet in the next, there is possible death. A death sentence would imply an absolute that would, in the least, be reflected in some sort of charge against civilians, such as NY Times staff who worked with Wikileaks.
"it is odd that in one instance there is no charges, yet in the next, there is possible death." If I get what you are saying- there were charges against Ellsberg, they did not succeed. The charges against Manning are worse because he's in the military - easier death sentence in case of treason.
Why isn't there more no-nonsense Glenn Greenwalds out there? You would think there should be at least one such no-BS writer at such big places like the NYT or WP. If there were many more Glenn Greenwalds out there, it might start to be more difficult for public officials to ignore their own faggotry.
Soldier in Leaks Case Was Jailed Naked, Lawyer Says Bradley Manning, the Army intelligence analyst accused of leaking secret government files to WikiLeaks, has complained that his client was stripped and left naked in his cell for seven hours on Wednesday. The conditions of Private Manning’s confinement at the Marine brig in Quantico, Va., have drawn criticism in recent months from supporters and his lawyer, David E. Coombs. The soldier’s clothing was returned to him Thursday morning, after he was required to stand naked outside his cell during an inspection, Mr. Coombs said in a posting on his Web site.

I came across this before and after photo of Bradley Manning which I have not seen elsewhere. It makes me sick. He looks like hell. They are really doing a job on him. [Edit: That is, if this is really him in the 'after' photo. Looks like it could be, but could also just be a creative 'shoop.]
Can we mail him? can any 1 get the address i say we send him tons of mail that will cheer him up View attachment images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSnjTvYIGoAi6Q8k-1ZCfTY-tNvVavm2
It's apparent from this photo-- if it is even him-- that the military is actively torturing Bradley. The guy looks in such bad shape it's hard to even tell its him. It appears these are crimes, and very serious ones. Simple Lucifer effect, purposefully destroying Manning's ability to defend himself, or did Obama become complacent in this to send a message to prospective whistleblowers ? Probably all three.
Holy shit! Death sentence? It looks like they already carried it out, bastards. Thought we weren't supposed to torture prisoners?
