Its being talked about. Re-importing from a different backup set is something that seems to mess up vB pretty bad. Give us a little time.

Sorry to be the dunce here.. but was there a copyright issue with a mod that changed the host site from Enturbulation.org to WhyWeProtest?

    Just curious. Thanks.

No. End of story. Stop bringing up non-existant drama.
  7. Re: Hello everyone, welcome back. Well, sort of.

I searches high and I searches low for my mighty Killawog and the great Scilon crusher, Lord XenuChaser.

    Where are these miscreant Tustanons?

This is much bigger and earlier leader faggotry than marble cake. It cannot be discussed since LE use donations for noodles. Do I have to trust anybody because somebody I don't even know trust them? Play by your rules or we don't have a website?

We need some open source model adapted to websites which should be owned by participants and donnators.

Re: Hello everyone, welcome back. Well, sort of.

I honestly have no idea what you just said. Really, your all over the place here. It is not "it cannot be discussed" it is "this is stupid, unneeded drama, no copyright at all, end of story". We dont need more drama. That is all I was saying. He asked, I answered.

Re: Hello everyone, welcome back. Well, sort of.

Sorry for all over the place all at once, as I don't know if I'll live after that. At least you know that I'm not after a particular post or person. What about the announcement in a couple of days? The transparent donation pages?

Instead of all over the place, maybe let us start with the most important issue, the domain name. Anonymous have no leaders? But the person who owns the domain name is rather important. If something is useful to the scilons and they can afford it they will try to break it down or buy it, like CAN. Do we need to know something about the person before trusting he/she with the domain name? People always fight (LisaMc trust).

We can have as much domain names pointing to the same server but does it help at all? Does it hurt search engine ranking if all the domain names are equally popular?

Re: Hello everyone, welcome back. Well, sort of.

Honestly dont know the answer to the search ranking question. More domains is of course easily possible. forums.whyweprotest.net and enturb.com both point here now.

As for the donations page. Its being coded today. Should be simple for me to update every night and simple for everyone to read. Hopefully its up by tomorrow night.

Re: Hello everyone, welcome back. Well, sort of.

After the battle for Mimi, do we really need something that worth fighting for? How much money do we save by coughing out the money for a server, instead of purely a regular hosting fee? Any other good reason for a server such as security? I have no problem with coffee or noodle funds, but it's more dangerous if the website is not running as a non-profit. The germas and farmas aren't paying that well. It's always good to get paid from both sides.

The content can truly be public domain by making all feeds available. Why is it that some topics have feeds while others don't? No matter how you present the content, people still want to click around on a pretty message board website with lots of icons, so no threats there.

Are we serious when talking about decentralizing? The best way to decentralize is to shut down or cripple the regional discussions. I would think we actually want centralizing - for search engine rank, for advertising, as long as we can afford the hosting. We can have both by having stable regional threads here. Obviously we need at least stickies in the regionals pointing to local websites, and maybe appoint people to setup something simple if there is no local websites/groups already. Also, need regional feeds so the content here can also be read on local websites.

Your not getting it. We arent buying a server. We are getting hosting on a dedicated server owned by the hosting company. Typical setup. We are not purchasing a server and co-locating it.

Shared hosting (the 8 dollar a month type thing) Will not be able to cope with the amount of traffic we are already getting.

The server we are getting will not be owned by us, and we are infact paying a hosting Fee. It's just a lot higher then 8 dollars a month because the amount of traffic we are getting warrants needing more.

Re: Hello everyone, welcome back. Well, sort of.

Good to hear. Typically it's not how much or what equipment, it's scalable hosting packages, with renting of equipment included.

Maybe transfer ownership of domain name to some well funded non-profit? Team of several notable people have password to the domain name account, who can change where the name points to.

Contents are owned by the whole community so it's only appropriate to publish everything in the form of feeds (rss/atom), so the contents are always available no matter what.

I need to thank all of you, and your mice, who got this site up, improved functionality and welcomed the unwashed masses back into the fold.

Design is really nice, and I am so glad I can disable those thread alerts since I do a pretty good job usually of keeping up. The features are fab and I love being able to get a snapshot of activity on Forum page 1.

I know how much work is involved in getting this up, maintaining it and hitting it with constant improvements. You have responded to crises nicely and this is the glue that keeps the community together, actually, helps bring our world together.

    Merci.

Well done on getting the site back up. The attack just made me even more determined to start protesting outside the org in my home town.

That's Cape Town, South Africa. I don't know if there are any other CT Anons about.
