    Major forum reorganization

After many weeks of discussion amongst the staff, we have finally come up with a layout that we (mostly) agree upon. This is not to say that it is perfect, nor subject to change, but rather to illustrate that it was done with forethought (before you begin to baww).

Obviously we have a LOT of cleanup that needs done still, so give us a bit of time while we do some work. If you'd like to help in the process you can do so by Reporting Threads (see my sig for details) and suggesting where they should go instead.

Feel free to dump your thoughts in here about what you like and don't like, and thanks for your patience.

"Community" is too high in the list IMHO. To fit the basements where the dwellers live, the bottom would be more appropriate

    Re: Major forum reorganization

Not a big deal, but Basement shows up under Search - Advanced but the "archive" category isn't on the Advanced Search. (And maybe it is on purpose because the default is to search all Open Forums)

Suggest sending this as a 'must read' thread to everyone?

    Re: Major forum reorganization

I like it but I'm a fan of utilitarian organization.

Welcome at the top...I agree makes sense.

News and Current Shit next...makes sense after you get familiar with the forums you want to know whats happening now.

Community next...I can agree with this as any normal person will probably want to see who actually uses this site and what they talk about.

Then online and IRL projects....which makes sense in that some one who's lurked enough to want to get involved will go there next.

I like it, don't change a thing. I'm assuming since it's now called chit chat (YSOSRS subforum) you are leaving that as on topic and off topic general bullshit board with YSOSRS as a safe for work trolling board? TD being what it's always been....

If so...I like it, thumbs up.

    Re: Major forum reorganization

I like the fact that Celebrity has its own area. Now people that want endlessly read US weekly and talk about Katie's weight can go there and not shit up everything else. And people that BAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW about celebrity BS won't have the BAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWW so much and they just ignore the area in general.
  15. Re: Major forum reorganization

Maybe move the 2 Activism sections to just below News and Current Events

    Example

    Welcome to Chanology
    News and Current Events
    Online Activism
    IRL Activism
    Community
    Internationalization
    Site Information
    Basement

    Re: Major forum reorganization

I also am a fan of utility. Welcome has one thread and no one that has ever posted more then once will ever look at those topics. I'm all for it being first for non-logged in and a Welcome message to new accts that says, READ THIS FIRST. But after that, it is a waste of pixels and hugely irksome for 99% of people to have to scroll past daily. Even if it is one cm on a mouse wheel. Multiply by 5000 hits per day and we are talking square miles of wasted white space.

OF COURSE, if you can't have one order for logged in vs. non-logged then nm, i sux cox.. I suspect this might be the case because of the search ordering.

small pixel loss in trade for newbs finding shit easier? I'm a fan of making this site easier for newbs...it's been a nightmare forever.

Frenchie, Loli, Uberslut and a couple a random faggots make it a consensus.

Teh Underdome goes back where decent folk don’t have to look at it.
Think of it as an Easter egg that noob have to hunt for.

    Re: Major forum reorganization

IMHO, Stick YSOSRS and Dome in the Basement and stick it right at the bottom. Actually, I still think YSOSRS is superfluous and should be removed, You have general discussion, off-topic, and the Dome. YSOSRS is basically a second dome, and not needed.

But the key point is that Dome should be at the bottom

    Re: Major forum reorganization

Do you remember when we used to be able to have discussions without resorting to bickering and personal attacks like OCMB?

    Those were the days.
  29. Zak McKracken Member

    Re: Major forum reorganization

    I remember those days!

Back when Anonymous was much more accepting of newcomers,
more willing to forgive, and generally respectful of eachother.

Wasn't the Habbo Hugraid supposed to be about promoting lolcats
and sharing memes with the Internet community as a whole?

Then one day an OCMB troll showed up, and everything was ruined forever.

    Re: Major forum reorganization

I know that some will come here to read when big celebrity news hits but I think Celebrity should be last in the News & Current Events section.

Also, Community is too high up. I don't mind the dome at all but if I were new and following the links in order and started reading YSOSRS/the dome I'd be wondering what is really going on here. How about placing Community just above Archive. Ease the newbies in before you hit them with the dome. As the old expression goes "They usually kiss you before they fuck you" :D
