Mid April site outages

Hi all,

As you have undoubtedly noticed, the site has been a bit... sluggish, of late. I have been working on narrowing down the why's of the matter and have been doing a lot of work with the database and the xenforo install. As such, there have been extended periods of downtime, longer than we typically allow.

I believe I have narrowed down the issue a bit, and unfortunately it's not an easy fix at all, but at least we're on the right path. You will likely notice that the "Latest Threads" is gone from the front page. Hopefully, it will return, but as you can imagine I have several things lined up ahead of it so it is low priority. I'll do what I can.

Finally, we were also the target of a DoS attack last night (4/26) at approximately 3am PST. Not sure how long it lasted, because it was large enough that the datacenter simply null routed our IP. By morning it seemed to have stopped. No one has stepped forward to claim responsibility, and chances are decent it was someone that mistakenly thought we had something to do with the PSN outage seeking vengeance. But who knows, pure speculation.

Anyway, thanks for your patience, I'll do the best I can to make it as smooth as possible.

The only thing interesting about it, is that they always decide to do it between 2 and 3 am so that the datacenter gets to wake me up just to tell me "lol sites down".
