Sea Org '"legally binding employment contract"

Somewhere in the KESQ expose, I seem to recall Tommy Davis or some other scientologist claim that Sea Org members are volunteers and not employees. Also claiming that if Sea Org staff were not happy, they could just simply leave and walk away, because they were volunteers.

    ORLY?

Scilon web page, excerpt from Church of Scientology International info:

THE MINISTRY OF THE SCIENTOLOGY RELIGION

    / Edit

Same info as above, but with 2009 CSI copyright, on the official Scientology web page:

Solutions to Social Issues: Education, Crime and Drug Abuse

And same info again on the Scientology Today Press Office web page:

Found part of what I was referring to:

How can a Sea Org staff member agree to both

    • work on a "volunteer basis"
    • sign legally binding employment contracts

    5,000 members are Sea Ogres?

Shit - that's around 65% of total worldwide Scientology membership that they bled dry of cash and then signed up!

Re: Sea Org '"legally binding employment contract"

Has Bacca seen this? Send it to him if not already done so.

We should be compiling a "How to handle scilon interviews", a compendium of conflicting "facts" and statements made by the cult in a nicely cross referenced format. This will provide background data for interviewers and lawyers confronting scientology.

This needs to be a "behind the scenes" operation so once initiated the scilons are not privy to exactly what info we are compiling and how it is cross referenced, no point in giving them time to think up their weazily answers.

PM me contributions and I will compile. Provide source reference data for quotes. Ideally source from video interviews, official scilon policy, court records etc. Add very short overview like, "Volunteer status yet with legally binding contract".

Send only one or two items. There is a lot out there, I don't expect anyone to submit everything they know; it would take them a long time to put together and me longer to break it apart and integrate it.

This will be a constant work in progress. It will be released to known interviewers, such as Bacca, news agencies and lawyers prosecuting scilons.

Urgh. Fail and a half. We do it in the open or not at all. http://forums.whyweprotest.net/15-media/needed-interview-notes-cheat-sheet-30159/ could be useful.

    Fail^>9000

If we do it in the open, they prepare and rehearse answers to all the points before we make them, thus removing the shock factor and giving the impression that there is a perfectly reasonable explanation...

    1) some (most?) contradictions just can't be explained away
    2) they aren't that smart : TD should have known by now that somebody would eventually dox xenu on him and his best comeback was "offensive/h8ful to ask me 'bout my satan"

Re: Sea Org '"legally binding employment contract"

Most contradictions may not be able to be fully explained away, but it allows for bullshit to be made up, or worst case scenario a case of "LOOK, A THREE HEADED MONKEY!"

Re: Sea Org '"legally binding employment contract"

Tommy Davis is flat out lying. This can be proved by scientology's own Policy Letters.

Someone already collected some scientology Policy Letters (HCO PLs) concerning scientology labor policies for staff:

Scientology Policy conflicts with US labor law

    Scientology labor topics covered include:

    • Staff pay is based on the organization's income, not hours worked
    • Extra pay for overtime is forbidden
    • Staff members may not take sick days
    • Final paychecks are withheld until the employee has been sec-checked
    • Unproductive workers have no rights
    • Sec checks may not be refused, and dishonest people have no rights
    • New employees must be sec-checked; all employees must be sec-checked after theft or breach of security
    • Refusing a sec check or auditing results in pay being docked by 1/3
    • Collective bargaining is a crime
    • Freeloader Debt
    • Employees must repay any discounts out of their own pocket
    • Staff members must file written reports of others’ mistakes or wrongdoing; making amends for these errors (which is mandatory) results in loss of pay

Also, here is a thread which shows scientology staff are prohibitted from moonlighting:

    http://forums.whyweprotest.net/123-...olicies-againt-moonlighting-39249/#post749813

The full versions of these non-confidential Policy Letters should be available on Wikileaks:

    https://secure.wikileaks.org/wiki/Scientology_leaks_by_date

/ Edit, I don't see the full set of the 7 OEC volumes (Organization Executive Course, aka the Green Volumes) on Wikileaks; I see OEC vol 3, but not the other volumes:

    https://secure.wikileaks.org/wiki/Scientology_cult_Executive_Course

For anyone new here, scientology "Policy Letters" cover the business, management and legal parts of scientology, and not the 'religious' dogma.

If a question's usefulness relies on the questionee not having a chance to prepare a answer beforehand, it's probably not worth asking.

Re: Sea Org '"legally binding employment contract"

Thats the equivelant of saying "If you need the element of surprise to win a fight, its not worth ambushing."

The less they expect the questions, the worse they look in the interview(s).

    wut?

providing dox and proof is now a High Crime on WWP?

Is there a new, secret, subsection of WWP for covertly providing dox and proof of Tommy Davis lying? I thought TD lying was common knowledge.

    Crosspost from another thread.

Does the Sea Org "legally binding employment contract" take these laws into account?

U.S. Department of Labor - Employment Standards Administration (ESA) - Wage and Hour Division (WHD) - Minimum Wage Laws in the States - January 1, 2008

Okeydokey, here is Labor Code section 510 for exceptions:

Re: Sea Org '"legally binding employment contract"

Since Laura Decrescenzo's lawsuit was filed, I've been waiting to see if the scientology web page quoted in the lawsuit was yanked, but the web page is still up:

The Ministry of the Scientology Religion

And the quote is still mirrored on another scientology web site:

Solutions to Social Issues: Education, Crime and Drug Abuse

Of course, even if scientology does remove these web pages, they will still be available on Google cache.

In case CofS tries to remove these employments statements from sites due to court cases has anyone got the Anon-owned screencaps/mirror sites? This footbullet is huge for the current cases.

Re: Sea Org '"legally binding employment contract"

Hopefully someone will mirror the pages (I don't know how to mirror).

In the meantime, here are the current Google caches:

Re: Sea Org '"legally binding employment contract"

It looks like the "employment" wording was altered at some point from the secret scientology / IRS agreement. Excerpt from an old web page:

    Scientology tax compliance I

These alterations might be a good reason to subpoena the secret IRS agreements in any current or new law suits.

And, yeah, I know this is thread necromancy; doing it mostly to annoy David Miscavige.

Update, due to referring to this new ESMB thread

Breaking the Sea Org Contract is now a Crime - Ex Scientologist Message Board

Update. Official Scientology websites have removed all references to Sea Org Employment Contracts, as far as I can tell.

That's OK, I snagged a screenshot a few months ago, before Scientology removed it:

I've owed over $100,000 since 1993. I'm guessing there's supposed to be debt service (interest payments) also.

Also worth noting is that motto "Revenimus" ie; "We come back". The english term Revenue was derived from the very same latin roots Re - Back and venio - Come. Revenimus could just as easily be interpreted as "We collect money".
