There are genuine long standing preservationists, who to a certain extent I share concern with about the wholesale destruction of historic artifacts. Hell it may well be too late for separating the causes, but the bigots and cowards will not win this, and the preservationists are about to go down with them as collateral damage if they don't take drastic action to identify themselves and keep themselves apart from the barbarians. I am a big fan of taking the removed statues and placing them appropriately in museums. However the more out of control the fascists make this thing, the more likely the statues and monuments will be torn down knee-jerk style and destroyed rather than preserved as items of historic value contextualized in museums.
