This really should go without saying, but unfortunately, we need reminders. Thanks.

This could have long-lasting implications. Well, not CNN's ratings, but the fact that Nightline scooped them. I think there may well have been a feeling that Scientology was 'so last year.' The fact that Nightline broke the story and it had legs proves this belief was false. 'Once bitten twice shy' applies to news editors and directors as much as anyone - they will err on the side of caution, running stories about Scientology, until a consistent pattern of disinterest. I think that pattern could return quickly - but at least the iron is once again hot.

Perhaps, but it's also possible that this ratcheting up of attention will induce an effective death spiral, as the cult can only thrive when ignored. The more people look directly at it, the more DO NOT WANTishness is generated. The more attention is paid to that, the more footbullets are generated by Hubbtards, etc..

CNN doesn't even have the Haggis story up on their website yet, not even the boilerplate AP story. It's very curious.

How is screwing the pooch "curious"? They're a failing business. Those on the inside are overworked and underappreciated. It's the typical end game for any corporation that insists on constant growth and will undermine their own product to reach that end.

But I suppose shouting ZOMG OSA is easier than putting things into context.

I trust you have evidence for this in hand? Applications, even of the religious type, needs evidence to be proven wrong or right. Evidence not only on paper, but also in the real world.

WTF? I just think it's really weird. They were one of very few outlets who didn't cover it, and it was distributed by the AP!!!! Who the fuck said OSA?

Rant - Scientology wives see no evil

Remember how the 'true story' from Tommy Davis was that there was heaps of bashing of Mike Rinder going on, brutal, brutal bashing, just not by Mr Miscavige?

The great Swiss psychotherapist Carl Jung tested a galvanic skin response (GSR) meter in conjunction with talk therapy over 100 years ago:

    ref: Lecture on Carl Jung

Jung abandoned his GSR research and psychotherapy never showed any interest in after 1906. Law enforcement embraced GSR techniques for lie detectors. The courts have long ruled that lie detector results are not admissible as evidence in criminal trials. Given that the eminent Carl Jung and the courts think so little of GSR, that should tell you that galvanic skin resistance is not reliable or particularly effective. Even the US Military, which can apparently use any form of "enhanced interrogation techniques" it wants, has eschewed e-meters in favor of waterboarding.

IMO, if the e-meter had any therapeutic effectiveness, Carl Jung would have found it in 1906. Scientology is the only group that has ever relied upon the e-meter, and even then the claims for it are absurd. The Cult would have us believe that the e-meter can retrieve 76 trillion year old data in a 15 billion year old universe. One might as well purchase and use a far less expensive Ouija board if unreality is being sought.

    *****
One could surmise that Hubbard read Jung's published work on the GSR when he, Hubbard, was malingering in the Oakland Naval Hospital in 1945. Hubbard claimed to have read voluminously in the "Doctor's Only" medical library there by impersonating a doctor. Hubbard would not have been beyond attempting to rework arcane, long-forgotten research done by Jung and call it his own.

That is some collection........feels like I hit the jackpot............ty

Are you sure that all of those articles aren't just the way the "Internet" twists and turns things into outrageous lies about Tommy Davis's "Religion"?

Need a video that points out this particular inconsistency please. Show Tommy being asked about, and then saying that Rinder got beaten, then show the recent clip of him talking about his wife never reporting bruises.

This suggestion is being processed at

I'm very pleased about this Scientology PR confusion and ineptitude. It just shows up the scumminess of their devious denials nicely.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet and maybe I'm a little late in bringing it up, but check out this screenshot from the ABC Nightline story on 10/23:

    yolanda.jpg

Who is that sitting next to Tom Cruise? Why it's the 19 year-old Yolanda Pecorara.

    Yolanda Pecoraro

This is the 19 year-old (at the time) Scientologist girl David Miscavidge had salve-labor Sea Org members find for his buddy Tom Cruise. How's that for fresh meat?

This was before one other Scientologist they hooked Tom up with and of course before Katie Holmes.

BFG, Marty Rathbun and others have written (on this forum and others) about these Slappy's little projects to hook Tom up with Scientology hotties.

What's most interesting about seeing this clip on ABC Nachtline is this: from the time this event happened (late 2004 I think) until May 2005 this event was being re-played on TVs in the waiting areas of Orgs all over the planet. In May of 2005 when Katie and Tom first started making a big deal about their relationship, it was ordered that all DVDs of the event be returned to Int so newly re-edited ones could be distributed. When we got the new DVDs we saw that in true Orwellian fashion the clips with Tom and Yolanda had been cut out of all the new DVDs.

Also, Marc talks about in his book about how the camera operators at the event were given strict instructions not to show Tom's "date." They mostly followed those orders, except for when Tom got up to get his award. I would assume further that this clip never should have been included in any DVDs that went out to orgs, however Marc explains in some detail that there was usually a mad rush to supply the orgs with video footage, which sometimes resulted in footage going out that shouldn't have.
