OSA OSA OSA!!!!!!! I see OSA everywhere!!!

Take off the tinfoil. Not everyone who dislikes VV is OSA. This just looks like someone who has a problem with VV's personals ads, not unlike the brouhaha over CL's "adult services" section.
4. xenubarb Member

Mongrel, you have NOT been paying attention! This bidness with the personal ads is cult-generated. They've been trying it out on comments sections for weeks now, testing the waters.

Not to mention the IRL protests outside Tony O's reunion/speech thing in CA (I believe)... organizers of said protest were found to be Scilon or Scilon-affiliated.

There are people, like Ashton Kutcher, who are mad about the VV personals ads but they've been around for a while. This site is very new (Creation date: 28 Sep 2011, same day as the #1 LRH article ran) and all of the pages except the Tony Ortega one are "under construction".

It also includes a picture of Tony speaking at an event which Scientology was picketing, presumably a picture they took. While it's often the case that critics go overboard with OSA dot-connecting, this isn't remotely tinfoil hat territory.

But other groups have been doing it for years. If OSA finally got wise and joined them that would be kinda like anonymous joining the Old Guard back in 2008. Its been going on independently of OSA for a very long time, but they may have just now jumped on the bandwagon.

They also have a Twitter account that has a Halloween costume pimp as its avatar.

And we all know people who are serious about human trafficking use pimp Halloween costumes as avatars. Because human trafficking is just that damn funny to them.

I encountered the vv. Ad attack from known scientologists weeks ago as well. So it comes as no surpise.

I saw 3 pages under construction and 7 with content. What kind of math are you using to get "all but one of the pages are under construction"?

Hell no! Next time I'm bringing the CAPS LOCK TOO!!! AND I'LL CONTINUE BRINGING THE CAPS LOCK AS LONG AS YOU FAGGOTS KEEP FORGETTING ABOUT DOX OR STFU!

Also, having people say "you're stupid and wrong" in no way constitutes actually being proven wrong. There is only comment in this thread that remotely comes close to providing dox but it does not provide sufficient details to verify the claim that it was actually a ronbot organized picket of Ortega.
tl;dr DOX or STFU

Sorry, I was generalizing. Most of the pages with content are obvious fast-fuck copy paste jobs with zero calories.

The main page has updated content, but once you get off of that there's very little except on the Tony Ortega page.
• Ferrer: Nothing but a "leave a reply" page.
• Larkin: Under construction.
• Lacey: An image and an embedded video from elsewhere with zero local content.
• Ortega: Loads of content.
• Backpage.com: A link collection. (Notice that all the pingbacks are from the local site? What's up with that?)
• Village Voice Media Holdings, LLC: Under construction. (Who does "under construction" since the 90s? With modern web packages it takes as long to add a lame "under construction" as to add real content.)
• Attorneys General: An image, copy pasta, and another pointless "leave a reply" box tacked on.
• CNN – Amber Lyon: An image, a couple video links (not embeded, wtf?), more local pingbacks, and yet another pointless "leave a reply" tacked on.
• Real Men: Someone else's embedded YouTube video content, yet another "leave a reply" tacked on.
• Protestors: Images from the anti-Ortega protest (said to be a Scieno-fronted operation), copy pasta article, and another "leave a reply" tacked on.
Except for the Home, Ortega and Protestors pages, the rest of the site could be pooped out by a beginner in less than half an hour with that empty content. (And it looks like it was.)

From the real effort expended on the pages, it's obvious that the focus of the site is Tony Ortega. Who would create a site in the last month to focus on Tony Ortega, rather than adding content to their existing sites?

There's no such thing as a non-profit sole-proprietorship. Legally Philip Cenedella and Stop Slavery 2011 are one in the same.

Is there anything we can do about this? Should we?
24. Smurf Member

He claims.. "Stop Slavery 2011 is a not-for-profit (in the truest sense of the word) and a sole-proprietorship registered in the State of California."

Sole proprietorships are not registered with the California Secretary of State but may register with the city, county or other local government entity in which the principal place of business is located. http://www.sos.ca.gov/business/be/information-requests.htm

I don't find him listed with San Diego County, either.. http://arcc.co.san-diego.ca.us/services/fbn_info.aspx

If scilons weren't involved with the protests against the adverts before I'm sure they will be now. It's a little like all those people they started helping sue the IRS when they were battling the IRS, of course as soon as the scilons got their tax break they dumped everyone they were helping.

Always wary of these pseudo crusades, tend to be an excuse to get money for nothing knowing you're not actually likely to make a real difference. Look at this, it's bad, geif monies naow.

In this case the scilons will probably concentrate their efforts solely on Village Voice, unless there are other targets of theirs carrying such ads, and disregard any wider actions like trying to have the adverts outlawed by the State / Federal Government which would be the sensible thing to do; would that work in the USA with that freedom of speech right, do they still allow cigarette adverts in the USA?

Personally don't know enough about the sex slave trade to comment on what contribution the adverts really make to it; as far as I know if there is demand then supply will meet it and lack of advertising hasn't harmed the illegal drugs industry.

Either way VV isn't the only host of such adverts and unless everyone decides to stop hosting them too it would be bad business sense to drop the ads. Any controversy the scilons create will only draw attention to the ad pages, I visited them purely to see what the fuss was about; sadly not in the area so cannot partake of some of the fine services on offer. ^^

It might be wiser for the cult to attack the child sex trade after the head of it's front group CCHR Jan Eastgate Myers has finished with the "covering up long-term child rape" charges in Australia.

On another note, Village Voice could maybe do with ditching one or two ad sponsors if they're doing wrong...
28. AnonyVix Member

Isn't the issue the adult classifieds, which are supposedly individuals advertising their various services (body service I see). It would be hard to spot a bad advertiser in those. It wouldn't surprise me if there weren't the odd sting operation on such adverts to check their legitimacy.

For the thousandth time it wasn't RAPE it was MOLESTATION!

Wasn't it perverting the course of justice? Just being extra pedantic. ;) though I agree it was about covering up the sexual molestation of a child. Technically not rape according to the law but just as you can rape the land some would class sexual molestation of a child, theoretically innocent or naive of sexual matters as rape.

I love the way in order to substantiate the claim that Tony O. is an atheist (big deal), they had to reference a f*cking copy of CSUF's Daily Titan, dated from 1987. And what a substantiation! After routinely scanning the college paper, I found a single paragraph quote of a letter Tony Ortega wrote-in replying to an editorial in an earlier issue!

This is the best they can do?! Fucking lamers.

27e12.jpg

Tuesday, April 21, 1987! (This reminds me of college in the mid 80s!)

"... In response to that piece I received three letters. Two from atheists and one from a Christian ... Both atheists, Thom T. Gsell and Tony Ortega, were upset that I wrote atheists have faith because they cannot prove God doesn't exist. ... Ortega's piece, while well written is rather lengthy. I cannot do it justice in the limited amount of space I have. Here is one excerpt: 'Contrary to Spencer's statements, atheism does not have to prove anything. Imagine a man, who, after discovering a new animal, asks the rest of the world to disprove the existence of that animal. Surely the burden of proof rests on the man and his claims of the animal's existence. The burden of proving God exists always rests on the deist.'"

Interestingly enough, that Tony Ortega sabotage site's only pingbacks other than to itself is to one to a particularly vicious Robert Almblad sabotage site - http://almbladscam.com/2011/10/17/z-z-z-z-z-z-z-2/ (*read note)

What a fracking bunch of kooky kultie fools clearly unfit to be running around in human society. It's sickening, revolting and sometimes depressing. However, it's a beautiful Sunday, so let me not dwell on them or waste any more of the weekend...
