I suggest:
that WHEN we reach 5K, that the hive-mind draft a press release with the assistance of Graham Berry. The press release can provide snippets about the abuses as well as information about the petition and FBI investigation.

My other suggestion is to include wording in the press release that calls into question scientology's tax exempt status in the US.

I hate to be so un-humorous (but): I would not expect pot to be legalized, nor individuals released from jail, nor immigration policy to be changed without due consideration, nor whole milk (unpasteurized) to be adopted as White House fare, nor an "alien life-form from area 51" to appear on "Face the Nation" (etc. for the many petitions), and I would normally expect them to have "outs" (like the Windows software license e.g. "It's not our fault, it's your fault"), but the closest thing I saw that might relate to this particular petition is (very near the end of the "terms"): "To avoid the appearance of improper influence, the White House may decline to address certain procurement, law enforcement, adjudicatory, or similar matters properly within the jurisdiction of federal departments or agencies, federal courts, or state and local government in its response to a petition." The way I read it, that says "we aren't going to bypass, for example, court systems or police or procurement agencies or other, agencies in their PROPER FUNCTIONING (proper jurisdiction)." E.g. the White House will not send a swat team to arrest everyone in the Co$ without a warrant just because we got 5,000 signatures, but the WH does have the obligation to address the petitioners' requests to investigate why an ongoing FBI investigation in PROPER FUNCTIONING was halted .... This petition places the administration in a proverbial bind of forcing into the light the alleged EXISTING transgressions of undue influence (vis. a law firm improperly influencing friends in the DoJ to arbirtrarily and without proper functioning halt an FBI investigation at the law firm's request).

In simplest terms: "Mr. President, over 5,000 of us want to know if in fact a private law firm hired by the Co$ acted to influence individuals in the DoJ to halt an FBI investigation into the Co$." How are they going to dodge that one without inviting the august Xenu Is Lord's wrath? We're not asking them to bypass any agency. We're asking them to find out if an agency was bypassed.
