Reckon it's worth turning into an interactive google chart to host on any anti-sci website? Can do that tonight if anyone wants.

GB, if your gonna be sending them stuff, be aware the pres, vice pres, and even their wives are big time scholars. So assuming the administration does entertain this petition, their expectations for evidence to spend money investigating itself will involve damn good research standards. References to back up every claim and statement must be provided. I also recommend running whatever you send through some research-fags to double check for tone and accuracy. If this actually goes anywhere to the administration, its gotta be damn good in quality of content.

Also, the Obama administration claims to go for long-term gain. Here is a nice argument to add to the equation, if Scientology is as good as you and exe's claim it is at evading or fooling investigators, then that means other criminal groups can adopt the same tactics. A good internal investigation may reveal more leaks and snags in the system that groups or organizations, whom may be engaged in criminal behavior, can exploit.

Just something that might add more weight to what is being proposed in this petition.

I wonder if we would make it to 6,000 signatures for sunday afternoon.

5472 signatures! We only need minus 472 to make 5000! Quick, someone unsign it!

Hate to inform you but the pres, vice pres & their wives have noting to do with the petition. They all have their personal staffs and gatekeepers which control what information lands on their desks. It's like the evidence dropped on a judge in a civil case where a trial is not involved. The judge doesn't read all the evidence.. his clerks do and they provide a summary to the judge. His/her decisions are not reflected by the evidence, but the interpretations of that evidence by their trusted paralegals & court clerks.

I suspect that the Obama Administration will find a nice way of burying this petition with alot of excuses & rhetoric. The one thing Obama's staff doesn't want.. especially when he's running for re-election...is to court controversy & being accused of threatening "religious freedom". Obama's already gotten himself into hot water with his opinions of Israel & the Palestinian conflict.

Unfortunately, we live in an age & in a nation where the threat to people's freedoms & livelihoods are overshadowed by party politics. The petition serves as an instrument to show the Obama Administration there are concerns about the cult, but in the end, party politics will serve to wipe the issue under the carpet.

I would not be so quick to dismiss this petition as a casualty of party politics.

That may all be so, but it's better to try and fail, than to not try at all.
Further, it does not remove our ability to use this petition as a means to:
    - enturbulate
    - educate
    - innoculate

    Sheesh . . .

I posted " The petition serves as an instrument to show the Obama Administration there are concerns about the cult." It's not negative at all, but realistic. Unfortunately, some people live in a perpetual dream land.

It reminds me of all those people at Obama rallies screaming "4 more years". 4 more years of what we've had to endure in this economy? Seriously? Anyhoo, remember what I said when people realize the petition earned nothing more than a glance by the Obama Administration.

Read Tony Ortega's article in the Village Voice today... "Scientology will be sponsoring a talk by Kareem W. Shora, a senior policy advisor at the Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, which is part of Homeland Security. Scientology's flyer suggests that the event, to be held next Wednesday, will feature Scientology's own "human rights" campaign."

When that occurs, then we can go forward & put pressure on the administration for not taking the concerns of 5,000+ voters seriously... during a re-election year, that would mean alot to Obama.

This will mature into a fine lulzcow once the predictable cult response becomes public (celebrity white house visits are my bet.) Also, I imagine there is a letter-writing campaign from cult members to the white house in which all the letters read practically the same. More exposure to active $cilons means more defections. We win, cult loses.

How about a direct tie between this poll and action item #9 for the incoming President?

Update on VV says Homeland Security will NOT be at the Scientology event. It further suggests they were going to attend until they found out the invite was from a sci front group.

  20. Like there was ever any doubt that we'd succeed in getting the 5k signatures.

We were just playing it close for the sake of drama, like the tightrope walker who pretends to wobble in order to tease out those nervous exclamations from his or her audience. 2ymukab.gif

It might be said that many of those votes were from outside the US and that the target was not truly met so a few more votes would help prevent that excuse being used.

  25. Not even that. The online petition "tool" is a mere PR ploy. They don't give a fuck about the individual petitions. The fact that they increased the threshold up to 25,000 is a clear sign that they don't want to be bothered with the petitions themselves. Making it appear that the public can indeed participate in the policy making is the sole reason behind it.

The result of this petition will be a standard letter/e-mail saying: "Thank you for bringing the above-mentioned matter to the attention of the White House. We have forwarded your concerns to the proper federal authorities for further review and/or investigation. Thank you for your cooperation. [Signed by some low-level clerk]." Case closed.

Let's not forget there is another purpose to this even if the petition gets short shrift. When the thing cult finally implodes, and the accusations of who knew what and when start flying around, this is more evidence that the White House knew, or ought to have known.

Petition currently @ 5572, would be nice to get the 'insurance' number above 20%.

Maybe right, but when 5500 ask if a private law firm told the DOJ what to do, that's a national issue of undue influence that affects everyone who works for the government? Isn't that like Administrative Body Odor? There is such a thing as using up all one's favors - something the "church" may have already done. A little more push and they're all done in is what it looks like to me.

    Yes.
As I keep saying, it provides us with a PR springboard to further:
    - Educate
    - Enturbulate
    - Inoculate

The fist step in accomplishing the above is the press release ยป
    - So, help Graham craft the release.

    - Also, think of other ways that the >5K signature White House petition can help accomplish other objectives.

    - And finally, quit being negative and think up some additional ways to further accomplish the three points listed above.

    - This my new mantra... consider making it yours:
    Educate. Enturbulate. Inoculate.

    We Are Legion.
    Expect Us.

It may not result in much but it is still a milestone achievement. It rings a bell somewhere that gets heard. It is encouragement for another action. If enough actions like that get recognised then change will start to happen.

I am very happily "showing" it up my arse. I am glad I gave it the needed ridicule and the kick up the arse that it needed. I am glad that I pointed out that, based on the statistics, it would not succeed. Then finally people here woke up and did that thing that they should have done a week or so ago. They pulled out their finger at long last and made it a success. The graph shows that to be the case. It was people here that achieved it. They were recklessly late but it was still done. That only chance was grasped and there was a success. Anonymous delivered!

I hope the FBI are investigating but I also hope that they say something like, "The investigation has been put on hold due to insufficient evidence of criminal activity at this time and other, more urgent departmental priorities."

Surveillance works and it helps people when they don't know anything about it.

^ "Like", and extremely likely, if they even give that amount of a response. Anyone who thinks they're going to get detailed accounts of what is or isn't going on is naive.

I agree. And the bell needs to ring as loud as possible.
