If the FBI aren't at least keeping tabs on Scientology's interconnected web of dodgy enterprises while awaiting an opportunity to raid for hard evidence, I just don't even.

If they are investigating, then I take MR/MR's successful attempt to PA Anonymous into gathering info about the status of the investigation as a good sign. It might mean that the core investigative team is free of infiltrators.

It was supposed to close at 4:15 PST about 1/2 hour ago but still appears to be open.

I've been spamming the spit out of all the South Park article with the petition all day.
If Marty had had the sense God gave a gnat, he should have leaked this last week when we would have had a few days to get even more signatures.

Still seems to be open so keep signing if you haven't already.

so Will "I am not a Scientologist" Smith is hosting a $38,500.00 a plate dinner for Obama.

    Signed.
Anyone really believes it will make a difference, here ?
  14. Anonymous Member

    Did you read the thread?
  15. anonakatie Member

Well, if you don't do it, then you know it wouldn't make a difference. It is something that even if it were to produce nothing directly from Obama can be used in a variety of different ways, as publicity as a hammer as to public concern, in press releases, etc.

I do of course understand your reasonable skepticism. I remain the eternal optimist. If not thru this, then thru other methods. A figurative "death of a thousand cuts", if you will.

If they act on it, we can refer to that. If they don't act on it, we can exploit that.

I share your hope that something will come out of this. If I didn't, I wouldn't have signed it, obviously.

You are right, it can be used in other ways than adressing directly to the Obama administration. I failed to see that.

And now for your laugh of the evening.

I thought everyone might find this petition I happened across amusing.

    WHAT IS SCIENTOLOGY?

Scientology is a religion in its highest meaning, as it helps bring man to total freedom and truth. The essential tenets of Scientology are these:
You are an immortal spiritual being.
Your experience extends well beyond a single lifetime. And your capabilities are unlimited, even if not presently realized.
Furthermore, man is basically good. He is seeking to survive. And his survival depends upon himself and his fellows and his attainment of brotherhood with the universe.

Scientology Successes — What Scientologists Say

At thirty-five years old, I was not happy and wasn’t getting what I wanted from life. I felt if I waited it out or tried harder, things would change. As each failure came my way, whether it be in relationships or career, my world just seemed to get a little smaller. I wondered why the fearlessness and enthusiasm I once had was gone. ...

Where do you suppose the thousands of signatures from the millions of Scientologists are? I don't know why the first signature isn't the person who started the petition, unless there is just an error on the date of the signature for "Jason Beghe Beghe"

Well I guess this means Jason's middle name is the same as his last, or there is another Jason Beghe (small world). Second, I question the weight these petition sites carry in terms of doing anything significant. Also, this is just a "I support," thing. It has no goal, nothing. Its just something for garnering attention to anything but amongst themselves. Besides, this thing started 8 months ago! And that is how many signatures they got?

I can speculate so much to moral in Scientology if there are hardly any signatures. Or perhaps Scientologists are being barred from signing it because of some PR procedure? Was the petition even announced within the Church? Is this a Freezone/Indie thing?

Heck, for all we know it, an Anon could have started this to get the names of Scientologists.
