wiki.whyweprotest.net - a new place for collaborative work

In the last year and a half, WhyWeProtest's userbase has grown substantially. One of the biggest problems we've faced is dealing with collaboritive projects; we generally have tons of users willing to collborate but only the original poster or a mod can update a thread.

Today, we'd like to try and change that: Why We Protest Wiki

Wiki formatting is a bit different than vBulletin (BBCode), but it's not too difficult to pick up. Please read through How to use this wiki, and check the FAQ.

This wiki is NOT a place to dump information randomly, but a place for real projects. The wiki is an experiment in taking our collaboration to new lengths. To be clear, the wiki is primarily intended for use by anons, and is not aimed at the general public. This is a place where we can focus some of our energies to create something useful.

Ideally discussion goes in a forum, and the end content goes on the wiki. Wiki URLs are easier to remember, find, and share with other people. OPs are encouraged to link to a created wiki page on their threads, while gaining input from other anons on WWP.

If anyone here has prior experience working with wikis, and you'd like to help out, please let us know. If you have any questions about the wiki, you may ask here, on the FAQ, or in IRC (#wiki).

    da5id,

Any comment on usage of the wiki for the many people who love to build lists of people? That UK fag is going to dump a gazillion of his named scientologists on there just so they can threaten to sue someone else for a change.

I'm not saying it cannot be used for things like ex-s that have spoken out, but just curious if there is a policy on naming general public.

Re: wiki.whyweprotest.net - a new place for collaborative work

He already has his own site, so I don't think that will be an issue :) Regardless, no, this site is not aimed towards naming every single scilon ever, but rather for targeted projects. Allow me to cite a few examples off the top of my head.

Creating lists of Scientology violence against Anonymous
The list of ex-scilons that have spoken out
    etc

New additions will be looked over to ensure that everyone is on the same page. Generally tho, think about it like this: Anytime you come across a piece of information and you think, "Man, that will be useful to someone doing research/journalism/etc", then consider adding it to the wiki.

It has gotten very difficult to search for threads on WWP as we approach the million post mark, and hopefully this will help there.

No, currently you will need to register a new account. I haven't been bothered to look for any sort of vB integration for this because the reg process is so easy.. really, it just takes a moment.

(Ahem.. I linked you to the vB addon...) But in the spirit of security, less egofaggotry and staying Anonymous, you should create a new username and password, IMHO.

i hope it does not mean a lot more work for you.

Also, /r/ treefort function; create a page only certian people can view and edit. Of course I have no idea how much work that would take.

Yay, the Wiki is so much more organized!

It's no surprise that Anonymous is growing; people are figuring out more and more that Co$ is full of bullshit and they want to do something about it.

Re: wiki.whyweprotest.net - a new place for collaborative work

Yo, wiki admin here. Here's one example of a very experimental feature of the wiki I was working on.

List of IRL raids - Why We Protest Wiki

    Steps to add your city:
    1) Register a new user on the wiki
    2) Find your city on the above list.
    3) If it is red, click on it to create it. Otherwise, it already exists.
    4) Type in {{subst:raidcity}}
    5) Click "save".

You'll notice that the page is populated by an example template I created. This can be a type of "homepage" for any given anon cell for protest location and other things. If you look over the format of Clearwater (click edit), you'll see an example of how to format the raid list.

Of course it's all experimental. Give me a shout on-wiki if you have any questions. You may also want to check out the basic introduction on how to use wiki syntax.

Among other things, this may be very useful in collecting information on front groups (e.g. various fraudulent claims, lolsuits, political beatdowns, etc.). Whenever they try anything new we'll have an arsenal of dox to power the ion cannons. The front group info tends to get buried by the larger Co$ specific issues but they're no less important. After all, Criminon, Narconon, and WISE are just different faces that scifags show to different people.

That's absolutely ridiculous. They would never do that.

Re: wiki.whyweprotest.net - a new place for collaborative work

Great idea to have a facts-based only Wiki I think, I hope there is at least one person who'll keep a close eye on it for idiocy/stupidity etc.
I am not clear about how the information is to be secured and added to, but I haven't read up on it yet either (but will soon), but wonder things like banned trolls/ISP's etc. from here trying to get in on things and fucking it over, this would be a real shame.
Maybe for us dinos someone could explain how to keep fucktards and scilon dis-info out of this, Liek is there a 'merit' thing or 'an anon without question' type thingy, or an approval process for people on missions, to keep the info secure? Just asking as I'm not a wiki or wikki person.
I hope I posed this question properly.

First thought was an index of master links>

    Subdivisions

    Protest sites
    Articles. Current/Archive
Testimonies. From ex's/from victims who aren't
Scholarly studies, ie. universitry papers etc.
    Newspaper coverage, indexed to present
Links to Co$ legal cases index to present and linked
Lists section. Those ex's who've spoken out, CoS PI's, rogues gallery, etc.
    Critics webs/ blogs links

To name a few. I r duh? Dunno.

    Cheers!

    :)

Re: wiki.whyweprotest.net - a new place for collaborative work

Oh, you can be sure of that ;)
Well mostly the answer of this question pertains to the answer of the first. I will be monitoring the wiki and with enough help from some responsible individuals, we shouldn't have a problem.

I have implemented a "project manager" system whereby the initiator of a project (OP) is responsible for a page. They simply add their name at the top of a wikipage ({{active|usernamehere}}). The intent is that they will then monitor the respective pages and ensure the accuracy the information.

But of course, there will always be admins and other trusted individuals, determined to help the cause.

For a quick crash course in how to use the wiki, see this page.

Re: wiki.whyweprotest.net - a new place for collaborative work

There are tons of possibilities here. I think that the main objective is types of information which can be added to. So rather than individual testimonies, a hive of links to testimonies. That sort of thing. Hence the need for collaboration.

There already exist sites for primary data. Our job is to collect and organize it in a digestible way.

As you've undoubtably already seen, we have several of the described lists on the site. Such as a list of lawsuits, exes (with testimony links), critical books, media relating to anonymous and about Scientology.

But of course, the sky's the limit.

Also offering any technical assistance that I can provide, as I've been an administrator on a certain popular humour wiki for over 2 years, and know a thing or two about how they work.

/r/ some structure around which we can buid a page for every org and mission in the world, especially if we can show how they fit together heirachically and also add photos of their rundown shitholes. Even bestestest if we can put in those that closed, like ones in Wales etc mentioned in Auditor magazine.
